Didn't see anything in my initial Google "site:" search.

<spoiler=Semi-Relevant Backstory>I was playing Miner Dig Deep, a little community title on the XBox, and was complaining to a friend about how I liked the music, but with only one song it got repetitive. He suggested that I listen to my own music through the XBox. Although I definitely knew that this was possible, the thought had never really occurred to me. [/spoiler]

My question is: Do you prefer to listen to your own music while gaming, or the music added into the game?

Are there some games that you always listen to your own music? Are there some that you would never think of doing such a thing?

I generally stick with the in-game music unless it's astoundingly terrible. The last time I remember consistently not using the in-game music for an extended period of time was level-grinding in FF7 in maybe 1999. Otherwise I only occasionally put my own stuff on, and if I do turn off the in-game music, it's usually just so I can hear people talking better with their crappy mics.

I GENERALLY listen to my own music. On most games where hearing 3D sound is of little consequence I'll listen to my own music. In competitive FPS games though where you can hear someone based on the noise they make I usually have all forms of music off.

In driving games where the only thing to listen to is an engine I listen to my own music.
