I think I prefer cute. Cute implies a degree of innocence that 'needs' protection. Sexy implies a level of independence that 'needs' to be tamed. I think that's the real difference.
I like it when the two mix. Mostly in cute nerdy girls with great bodies. UGGGG. So not fair.
If I had to choose however I'd go with cute. Cute has something charming about it that never really seems to go away, and for me mostly resides in the smile and eyes, where as sexiness can 1) be synthesized (fucking modern bras... you never know what you're getting) and 2) fades with time.
So yeah, cute girls all the way. Still though I'll always drop everything for a cute nerdy girl with a sexy body.
Oh, one caveat: Sexy can also be in the actions of a girl, they can say things or do things in a very hot way... though sadly this seems to be a trend giving way to the awkward generation as I've only really found it in older women. Anyone can be sexy if they just act the right way, in fact that how you end up seeing ugly guys with hot girls... Girls are just amusingly less superficial.

I tend to use the two interchangeably, so yeah... However in terms of personality I prefer sweet, caring girls, which I suppose falls under "cute".

Typically, I'll just take cute. Cute people typically have better personalities. It seems those who are sexy sometimes let it go to their heads, and they just get this awful ego. Cute, on the other hand, is that: cute. I prefer a nice personality to go with it. But a sexy guy once in a while is just as great.

i'd say sexy. last time i dated a girl, it was because i thought she was real cute, even if others didn't. the break up was terrible for me. good thing about going for sex appeal is that you can't be wrong, big tits and a nice ass to you means exactly that.

It's funny, there are these twins at my school that make me ask this question every time I see them. They are literally the cute and sexy versions of each other. Objectively, I want to say cute; but with the example in front of me, I tend to lean toward the sexy one.
