Cut scenes are often crucial for telling stories. They don't help with immersion though.
If games are to evolve as an art form they cannot be used often.
If a game is not art add cut scenes so we can at least have a good story.
The story in Half Life 2 and its episodes is hard to appriciate for me because I have not played Half Life and know very little about the story. The elimination of cut-scenes severely reduces that amount of back-story that can be told.
Since most games do not have artistic merits let alone much immersion, cut-scenes should still be used prevelentely.

as long as its not MGS4 length or Indigo Prophecy
What was wrong with Indigo Prophecy? You mean that Indigo Prophecy's cut-scenes were too long like MGS4?
