I'm really looking forward to it - a hybrid of comic book art, and Zelda/DMC gameplay sounds like a great idea - but I've still got Dragon Age to finish. That game is consuming more and more of my time that it's getting hard to study for my upcoming exams...

So, to answer your question, I'll definetly be getting it. Just as soon as I feel I'd be able to sink some time into playing it.

if your serious about that, its best described as a zelda type game for adults with a dmc/gow style of combat, or so ive heard from the reviews.

Eventually I will but not sure when, doesn't come out here till Friday though.
Edit: having read the Australian gamer review, that's most categorically a yes

I'll probably rent it because I'm about to sink $1500 into a bunch of high end computer parts. But I've definitely been interested in it.

Already finished it, I grabbed it as a rental 3 days ago.

The game is pretty damn good. Like you said, it's like a Zelda for adults (Hack'n'Slash with a bunch of puzzles), and the fighting style is most reminiscent of God of War. Also, the platforming and some of the puzzles show hallmarks of the Soul Reaver series, and later on the main gameplay mechanic from Portal is incorporated as well. Also, there are upgrading elements, and a useful fast-travel system to get around the world.

Graphics are not high-end, but still good, and the game actually has a full pallette of colors rather than the usual greyish brown. Also, the artwork in general will rock your socks off, they brought in Joe Madureira for most of it. Controls and camera both work well.
The only little gripe I really have with the game is the bland soundtrack, but to compensate for it the (fairly simple) story is extremely well-told and the voice-acting is top notch (actors include Liam O'Brien, Phil Lamarr and Mark Hamill).

All in all a good game to ring in 2010, with about 15 to 25 hours of gameplay. If you're into Action RPGs you definitely need to pick this game up.

thanks for the info, how about the replay value? is there a reason to play through a second time besides the achievement/trophy for the harder difficulty?

Not much in that regard, I'm afraid. Once you find all the goodies and finish the story, that's it. Still didn't keep me from buying the game, though - it's a blast, and I already know I'm going to play it again in a few months.

I have seen some of the trailers and to be honest what I have seen does not make me want to buy it.

The two sources I trust have yet to come out with a review.
Step one: Get the review from Gametrailers and the review from the Escapist (The actual reviews, not zero punctuation)

Step 2: Average the two scores. (You need to pay close attention to figure out what score on a 10 point scale the Escapist is hinting at despite not providing)

Step 3: Based on the genre add or remove the appropriate number of points (If it goes over 10 it is still a ten but it is important to keep track of the number for step 4..)

Step 4: Based on the developer (Not publisher. EA and Activision are publishers, don't start making jokes aboot them) add or remove the appropriate number of points. (Scores above ten will be treated as ten. Scores below one will be treated as one.)
And there you have it kids! The actual quality of a game.

play magazine gave sonic on the 360 a 9 so i don't trust their review. But what with bayonetta also getting early 10's it seems to be a good time for character action games, which i'm not usually interested in.

I rented it because X-Mas decimated my bank account. I can't wait to try it though.

So like, I'm looking forward to this game, but I've seen nothing about Darksiders that is even remotely adult. Maybe if gracious violence, swords, guns, and a horse that is on fucking fire is the definition of 'for adults' nowadays (who am I kidding, that was always the definition).

I just don't think that Zelda can be written of as 'for kids' so easily, just because it's not extreme.

I'll probably buy it not too long after my PS3 has been repaired/replaced.
