I've always said "Day-ta." And I don't think I've ever actually met someone who said "Da-ta." Weird.

I've heard it both ways, but I, personally pronounce it, "Day-ta".

always said 'day-ta'

are there going to end up being loads of these threads, like 'gr-arse or gr-ass' or 'tomayto ot tomarto' 'potato or potar... never mind that one.

I and everyone I work with says 'data' but our head office in England insists we say it 'day-ta'. They've been watching too much Star Trek.

I say Day-ta.
I've always thought that da-ta was the American pronunciation of it.
As usual though, I'm probably wrong...

according to the dictionary it can be pronounced both as Dey-tuh, Dat-uh, or Dah-tuh.

So using your phonetic spellings - neither because that would mean I'm saying ta at the end as in ta-ta; not tuh (rhymes with duh)

I love how many grammar fascists we've got here that apparently don't know how to spell phonetically.

I hope this isn't a precursor to 1000 tah-mey-to v. tah-mah-to threads.
