There's been a couple of threads on DBZ villains so I thought I'd throw this out there. There's two main 'camps' amongst DBZ fans; Ocean Group dub fans and Funimation dub fans (with Funimation being split between DBZ and DBZ Kai). Which one do you fall into?

As a reminder here's the same clip from each;

For me it's DBZ Kai (the uncut one that is). The voice acting's well done and the script is truer to the Japanese version.

If it's English I don't care.

I can't watch anime with sub titles, it's like reading a book, watching a film and listening to gibberish ... it messes with my head.

Funimation sounds closest to what I used to but like I said as long as it isn't sub titles then I don't care.

I don't remember, seeing as it's been many many years since I've watched DBZ. I vote for whichever did these, because that last scream was insane. I'm sure it's either Ocean or Funimation though.:

That's Ocean. I prefer Funimation myself but I must admit Vegeta's Ocean VA is damn good at this thing.

The Ocean dub wins for me on Vegeta alone. I love Christopher Sabat, and his Kai voice was perfect, but Brian Drummond just screams pure wrath.

I'd like Kai more if Gohan didn't scream like a little girl, and they changed the music in some scenes.

Funimation over Ocean simply due to the voicing (to say nothing of that whole "make sure nobody ever says 'die'" thing). Ocean's dub worked well enough during the Saiyan arc, where Vegeta was nothing more than a card-carrying villain for the main cast to fight, but when Vegeta started to get some character development that "I kicked a puppy because I like hurting cute things" vocalization begins to feel as out of place as Goku's prepubescent voice that he used from episode 1 to the final episode of the Buu Saga (Throughout GT as well, if you count that) in the original Japanese version. With the Funimation Dub, he still came across as a blood knight but the villain angle isn't played up nearly as much, allowing him to transition from major villain to anti-hero fairly easily, as the story demanded that he do.

I've got no opinion on Funimation vs Kai, though.
