Few weeks Back I got to try out DC Universe Online at Comic Con and I for one can say this is going to be a great MMO. Compared to MMO's Like City of Heroes and WOW This Game goes far out to set its self apart from the Rest.
It was really Enjoyable. I played as the Speedster in the Power Video Below. She is able to Run Straight up Buildings and she had a Rifle as a weapon. The combat is similar to games like Zelda and GTA. Its very fast pace compared to games like Final Fantasy 11 and WOW.

Full Customizable Gear and Character so not many clones will be in the game.
Many different traits and Abilities.
A Full story Involving many known DC Characters.

City of Heroes looks and plays like a under developed RPG. DC plays like its a Action Adventure. Also its made to play on the PS3. Its only competitor is Champions Online that's being released on the 360.

Yeah. But that fanbase isn't so great. I mean, it isn't big, people are great.

Also, it's either this or Champions Online. Whichever offers more options.

Im not too sure about DCUO, ill wait and see before i make any real judgments on it, even from the videos i cant tell if its going to be a game i would want to play, but hey, that's what free trials are for.
Yeah, I want to see some reviews and maybe play a trial before I make my decision. But, at least WoW will get more competition.

Looks way to much like City of Heroes... And I assume it's PS3 exclusive so it's a no for me.

What I really hate about the whole superhero "genre" if you must call it is not only the often crappy plot and badly thought out heroes/villains, be it a comic book or a video game, but specifically in this case, i hate how cartoonish super hero games look.

Especially MMOs.

I'd love to play a superhero game with blood and gore. So if you shoot a lightning bolt at someone, they writhe and burn. And if you punch them in the head with superstrength, their head flies straight off, unless they are a hero/villain.

You know, darker and grittier.
Eh. Referring to knocking peoples heads off, etc.. that would just get old after the 300th time you've seen it (remember, this is an MMO). I actually like the 'cartoon' graphics. And I understand the purpose for it. Those sorts of graphics typically allow it to be run on lower spec machines.

Meh, as long as I can have invisibility I'll try it.

'course, I don't play an MMO unless I can get a free trial first. So that's a big thing.

I was interested until I read up on DC's mythos. The pure, unadulterated, unapologetic ret-con cheese in there is more then I can handle. I mean, Marvel has it's bad points (JOE QUESADA F**K YOU!) but good lord, besides Batman the whole DC mythos is terribly convoluted and sophomoric.

The DC Universe is pretty messed up... but that's cool, I'm willing to be it'll b e simplified for this one.
I might play this for a couple days on like a trial or something... if I have a machine that can run it. I can never stick with MMOs though. The idea of one game dominating my play time like that is disgusting, and paying any kind of monthly fee makes my stomach turn.

Also, what is it about MMOs that bring in the worst class of power gamer? Y'know the type, the kind of guy who has to get absolutely mathematically perfect spec? MMOs can never just be leisure, they're work and commitment.

That said, the idea of creating a super hero already appealed to me in City of Heroes, and I'm sure it will hold sway at least for a few hours here too.

I'm too scared to play it. That and I've virtually given up on MMO's. Though I think the old republic is going to pull me back :S. However if they offer a free trial, I would probably be tempted to try it I'm just not paying for it to try it and then most likely sit it on the shelf when my first month is up.

Watchmen is a part of the DC Universe....
Well, Watchmen was published by DC Comics, but it's not really a part of the "real" DC Universe. It's more along the lines of the comics they print in their Vertigo comic line, though this was before Vertigo was established (I believe). There is one character named Owl Man in continuity, though he's an alternate dimension, evil version of Batman.

I got to play what they had last july in San Diego, and I have to say, I'm really excited. On that note though, I might have to toss up for which I'm ultimately gonna pay monthly for, Champions or DCU....

Champions is a 360/PC game. Not sure if it's going to be on the Mac, probably, since CoH/V is already there. But it's not for PS3.

DC Online is on PC and PS3. Again, not sure about Mac.

To say DC doesn't have an already present fan base is retarded. The Dark Knight anyone?
Thats a fair point. Then again, doesn't this present another problem - the developers getting lazy because of the assuredness of an already established fanbase? Look at Star Wars Galxies.

Oh, and apparently, Champions Online is coming to Ps3 too. Wonder how they'll fair against each other.
I looked into champions online, and really, as long as they fix CoH's problems, and I can fly, and there is massive character customization involved like in CoH (i did love THAT about the game) then I'm game for either or. I just really hate superman and would love to be a villain and 40 man raid his ass =P
It Champions Online, your character is even more customizable, even his/her movements are.
One of the reasons I want to try it. So I can really customize my character, not just the look...

Looks pretty cool, but seeing as how I don't have a PS3...Or 360...I can get either that or champions.

Eh, I probably won't get Champions Online, since this look better, but we'll see how much it lives up to the hype.

I like what the gameplay looks like right now...makes me think of a 3D version of Diablo, and as you said, Zelda.

Actually, for the 360, PC, and Mac, I suppose.

You don't pay monthly for DCUO.
Ha! sweet. In that case you just made my decision a bit easier.
