So a while ago New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg removed term limits for mayors and is now running again, what is your opinion on term limits?

They allow people to give their voice more often. I'd say that's pretty democratic.

I don't see anything wrong with having the same person run any number of times, but I'm sure there's a reason that I'm not seeing

Because people believe that it is too much like a dictatorship. At least, that's the only reason I can find.

I think they are undemocratic, as the people should be able to decide who they want in office and for how long, and even if they want anyone in office at all.

I live outside of NYC, and had to hear about this constantly when it was in the news. People were throwing fits saying he is so evil, but fact remains even without term limits he still needs to be voted in. In the end, that is what's most important. Term limits can always be set by the voters.

I think we need more term limits. I don't like it when a senator is an 80 year old man who has been in office for 40 consecutive years.

There is a noticeable difference in the poll and the posts.

Im all for getting rid of term limits in britain, in return we should lower the number of terms to 2 years and not allow people to take office because of complications... fucking Brown.

God fucking dammit I hate living in New York state!

I swear to god, term limit abandonment is the cocaine of the state government. Even worse than the federal government, NY, especially the state senate, has a terrible problem with term limits.

Whatever, just wash your hands.
Im torn between it, on one hand if someone is doing a good job its good to have them around longer but on the other its easier for the established power to keep in power then for someone else to try and gain power

But how would we keep his corpse in presentable condition to continue going to U.N. Summits?

If a leader is good at their job let them keep it for as long as they can function effectively. Or until people decide they don't want them around anymore.

As Winston Churchill said
Winston Churchill said:
Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.
Democracy is good in theory, it is very good for those who are the majority. Those who are in the minority can suffer...unless you're the Republican Minority of the US who still act like they're in power...

It depends on the position when it comes to Term Limits. If its something relativley minor such as MP or Congressmam, then if the people like their personal representitive, they should stay as long as the people have confidence in them.
With something major like Presidency or Prime Minister, there probably should be term limits in order to prevent the creation of dynastys or dictatorships...
