Hiya escapists.

Since it's the weekend, I've been eating some candy, and this reminded me:
While many of my friends have only had one or two cavities in their entire lives, I have only been to the dentist once without having to drill and fill normally several cavities.

This is not because I am sloppy with my oral hygiene. I brush my teeth twice a day (sometimes three times), for a period I always flossed as well. Still, my teeth continue to hollow themselves out as if by magic.
The first time I went to the dentist, I was absolutely terrified. Little 5 year old me had decided that the dentist was evil, and the only reasonable thing to do would be to scare him away. How did I do this you say? I figured my favourite teddybear would be good for scaring the dentist. However, I didn't think it was quite scary enough, so I took a little trip by the kitchen, and covered my teddybear in all the spices I could find. That ought to be too scary for the dentist to handle!
In the end, I think I plainly refused to open my mouth or something when they finally got me to the dentist.

This other time - fairly recently in fact - I was at the dentist's getting a cavity taken care of like always. Now, anyone who has been lying down in that chair knows that it's fucking boring. Add to that a mouth filled with local anaesthesia, and you get a guy who's not too good at concentrating on his surroundings.
I open my mouth, and try to phase out the sound of the drill that's being inserted into my mouth. Thinking about something else. All is fine and dandy for the most part. I'm just lying there daydreaming to keep my mind of the discomfort; when suddenly I feel a sharp pain in my mouth.
Wouldn't you have thought it: moron as I was, I had managed to bite down on the drill. It's safe to say I started paying more attention to my jaw while drilling from that day forward.

The drilling itself is not too bad. I accept the offer of local anaesthetic (because it bloody hurts otherwise), and let the dentist do her job. What sucks the most about drilling is that the spray of water that's supposed to cool the drill keeps firing into my throat, which is hell when I'm not allowed to swallow.
Also, this will be the last year that I receive free dental care, so I will soon have to pay for it if I can't stop getting cavities. Why am I cursed with this shit? [sub]Well, as far as problems in the world go, at least it's a rather minor one.[/sub]

So what I want to know is: How is your oral hygiene? Do you get cavities? And how do you handle drilling?

Are you perhaps a dentist? Of so, tell me: Are you intentionally planting bacteria in my mouth to keep me coming back? I know you are. I'm onto you

Edit: Forgot to add "0" option in poll. *facepalm*

I had my first ever filling a couple of years ago, at the grand old age of 28. It was terrifying because I totally didn't know what to expect. Turned out not too bad in the end, though having a numb mouth for an evening was not so much thrills. I've always had very good teeth and my Mum was always very strict about dental hygiene with me and my sis when we were young. I think she also took care to eat lots of calcium-rich foods while she was pregnant with us too, thereby setting us up with strong bones and teeth. Yay Mum!

I once had 20 cavities on one visit.
I'm getting 3 more filled on Thursday (or 1~5, I'm not sure even.)

Three abscess teeth and one wisdom tooth pulled (three remain).

I had one that was fixed with a laser tool, then I got two done last Christmas over break. Two weeks ago my mom tells me the dentist thinks he found four more! I know I've been busy with school and have kinda fallen down on hygeine, but that can't be right!

Everytime I go to the dentist, Bill Cosby's dentist joke enters my head and I try to do everything I can to not laugh.

YOU FOOL for forgetting the 0;D.

See, I don't think I've had any...but a part of me thinks that I did when I was little o.o.

I like to think my oral hygiene is pretty good, I've had a few teeth removed when I was smaller, and I used to have braces; everything's dandy now, though:].
Unlucky to hear about having to pay for them now though:/. We in Britain as a whole really take the NHS for granted:/.

I had my first cavity filled about a month ago. One cavity in 23 years, not too bad I'd say.

I've had four fillings. But in my defense that was because those four teeth were also capped several years earlier, it was a long and awkward process of putting stuff on brittle teeth them to supposedly make them stronger. Took forever and was one of the most unpleasant things I've had done to me. I think it's fallen out of fashion.

Then years later a different dentist found that one of them was rotten on the inside while looking nice on the outside, after I had one filled he cleverly noticed that I'd had the others capped as well, check them and found the same thing. Apparently the capping had hidden all the signs of decay until it was really bad. I ended up having the rest filled over a few weeks, I didn't really care by the end of it.

I have fantastic teeth by the way, a little yellow but whose isn't? But all of them perfectly placed so I had no need of braces nor does it look I'll have problems with wisdom teeth.

I went to the dentist a month ago, just after my 19th birthday (so its not free anymore). After never having a single filling, I was told I had 6, between my teeth, Turns out im supposed to floss. Ive never had floss in my house in my life.

Long story short im paying $1000 to get them filled.

And I might need a root canal.

Pain in the ass.

None so far, currently 25. I do still have a baby/milk tooth though. The tooth that was supposed to replace it decided it'd go sideways, so I had it taken out in an operation, therefore there's no tooth to push it out.
