For a class project we were told that we could design an ad for any product that we wanted for print. What I'm doing here is a little bit of research and trying to figure out which age groups understand the ad I have designed, and which ones do not. Thanks to you Escapees, who all vary in age, you are great guinea pigs.

It's by no means a final product, but merely a draft to get the idea across.

If you do understand, fantastic. If not, I may have to think of another theme that will reach more audiences. Many thanks.

EDIT: DUE TO FEEDBACK, I HAVE ADJUSTED THE AD ACCORDINGLY. NEW DRAFT IS POSTED WITH MORE RELEVANT TEXT.

Hahaha. This is fantastic. It made me laugh, and without stupid slapstick comedy.

Six million dollar man, if I'm correct, and if I am, I would like a cookie.

(If you have any.)

BrotherhoodOfSteel is almost certainly correct.
While it might be quite niche, I do think that as an advert it is ultimately successful. Though perhaps underneath you could have Windows 7 in the command code as well? Or does that ruin the whole purpose?

Now I know what its about I understand (with the hint from a poster above) but without that I wouldn't of understood. But then again I don't know much about stuff other people are aware of so I'm nothing to go by. The font and layout is great though :)

Clever. I like the idea behind it, and the layout and visual are great. The text is a bit long for an ad, but I supposed that it's unavoidable in this case. How big will the ad be once printed (assuming you're printing it for the assignment)? If it is small, my only suggestion would be to make the Windows 7 text a bit larger just so it can be easily read. Other than that, well done.

I appreciate the feedback!

The ad was to be designed with 8.5" by 11" dimensions.

I tried the Windows 7 font as the same as the other text and it just didn't feel right so I stuck with what I have now.

I may trim down the text to maybe just two lines of gibberish plus the tag line.

Yes, i get it, although i never watched the show, i understood the reference.

the ad i very simple, i like that. i think the text is too large, i don't think you need to cut it back so much as just shrink the font down. as it sits, i think the text just overpowers the ad itself. and regarding the windows 7 logo, i wouldnt change the font because it is generally a 'no-no' to alter the product logo in any way.

Ok for your research, I'm a 24 year old male geek.

I see an old windows logo, four lines of text where even though I know the individual words the overall meaning escapes me. Then the famous bionic man tag line.

I guess you're advertising Windows 7, but I really don't get the meaning of the advert. Sorry, it is kinda pretty and would look good giant at a bus stop or subway, you're just going to have to put up with people like me not getting it.

Cutting down the code to 2 lines and then the tagline would work, and the Windows 7 font is good, I'd keep it. For that size, the lettering size is perfect, so I would say just trim the fluff and you're good to go. 20 year old college male if that helps for your data.

I really dont understand, is it a District 9 referance?
Whats the aim of the project, whats your age group?

Also, the text is fairly difficult to read and even if i AM you target audience, i lost intrest reading it.. so good luck to those walking by. In short, its complicated and not eye catching, noone finds windows intresting.

Are you saying that Vista was crap?
No, I actually liked Vista. The ad is aimed at the popular belief that Vista was a broken OS.

As for the meaning of the ad, it's a take on "The Six Million Dollar Man," a TV show from the 70's. With Windows 7, I'm using the idea that Microsoft is "rebuilding" Vista, the broken OS into Windows 7.

Target audience is tricky as I knew going into it that majority of younger viewers have no idea what the TV show was. I would have to say that my target is an older generation that would at least understand the meaning of the tagline and hopefully attribute it to Windows 7 when compared to Vista.

Once again, I thank everyone for their input.

I think you should cut it down to the last two lines, then it would seem less like a snipe at vista while keeping the joke and making it easier to read.

I think everything but "we can rebuild him, we have the technology" needs to be removed for the sake of necessity/length. If nothing else, make the text a bit smaller.

I think the bloodhound gang quote is more approriate for your add.

"If man is five and the devil is six...
That makes me seven."

I have adjusted the ad accordingly with the feedback I have received. The text has been changed to be more relevant to the ad.

If you're going for the Six Million Dollar Man idea, you'll want to reduce the strength of the colours so that they're all shades of green or blue, to keep in line with the original series.

Very good, I got the link to the six million dollar man.

Genuinely a very good advertisement.
