I heard it long before I played Borderlands, it falls under the genre I like, so I heard it on the radio a lot, made me not like it due to people overplaying it.

Heard it first in Bordetlands, kinda dug it. Went and listened to some of their other stuff, not so much. Not a big fan of Cage the Elephant.

I heard it long before Borderlands. It made its rounds on the local rock station that I stream at work. For some reason I kinda like the band even though their singing style bothers me.

I had heard it several times before, but it has never been used so well. One of my favourite game intros!

Yeah I did.

That was back in the good old days of Fuse not sucking (which was seriously like a year).

I saw the music video before it came out too (I think), so the trailer wasn't all that appealing to me. It was actually a pretty popular song before the Borderlands trailer.

Knew I'd heard it somewhere before:-
The song has been featured both in the opening sequence of the 2009 video game Borderlands by Gearbox and its promotions, in a commercial for the TNT series Leverage, in the 2010 film The Bounty Hunter, in an episode of The Vampire Diaries ("Isobel"), and in a third season episode of Jersey Shore. The song was also included in a trailer for the 2011 film Horrible Bosses. Cage the Elephant performed the song on national television on The Late Show with David Letterman.

this song (no rest for the wicked) is realy good how come no one knew it before? (relying on youtube comets...)
so escapists i ask you, did ANY of you knew the song before borderlands?

this is the song btw
and if you didnt play borderlands yet go get it! its awsome!!!
Slide guitar = country song? No. If anything, it's a rock song with a hip hop aesthetics.

The band, by the way, is Cage the Elephant. And they are awesome. This song is pretty damned good, but it's been somewhat diluted to me now that it's a club song/stripper anthem/omnipresent mall culture tune. Just like Cee-Lo's "Fuck You," which is one of my favorite songs, the inescapability of the song still gets on my nerves. And here's the thing. I've heard 3 other songs by this band, which if you only hear "Ain't no Rest" you may be easily persuaded are just a bunch of wiggers, and every new song I hear makes me love them even more. They are positively badass, bold and adventurous and merging all sorts of different styles while maintaining a strong rhythmic sensibility. They're one of the current big things in music that will continue to create dynamic, compelling tunes long after the mainstream has abandoned them. And "Ain't no Rest" helped put them on the map.

Also, it's not country :p. For a reference, the following is country.

And yet, inexplicably, so is this:

However, Cage the Elephant is no more "country" than this

How long ago was it on the radio? Borderlands has been kicking around for a while now... I'd be surprised if this song was popular before Borderlands, it really isn't that good outside of that context.

Yes. I heard it in the Borderlands trailer long before I ever played Borderlands.

First heard it in Borderlands and became a big Cage the Elephant fan because of it (Back Against the Wall is my favorite of theirs).

Anyone else find Thank You, Happy Birthday to be way too tame and disappointing after the awesome, in-your-face carelessness of their debut album?

Yeah, I knew of it beforehand. My dad's really rather into them and quite often has the album playing in the house, so I was singing it backwards long before I knew about Borderlands.

Yeah, I listened to Cage The Elephant when they were called 'Perfect Confusion.'

I still think Borderlands had the best intro of any game yet.
