I'm fairly sure that almost everyone in the entire world knows who Rebecca Black is, and you
definitely know her "hit" song Friday. If not, here's her song below.

My friend tells me that Glee made a cover of "Friday" by Rebecca Black. So I went to Youtube and listened to the Glee version. And personally, I like it enough to forgive the lyrics. I always thought the song held a "catchy" feel to it despite the lyrics, and with the singers in Glee doing it, I liked it much better!

PS. If you don't know what Glee is, I can't really help you because I don't watch it.

So tell me Escapists, did Glee do Friday right?

EDIT: Just to let you all know, I know I forgot to put that fifth option which should have been "Friday has no hope" AND the other option that says "I prefer the multiple parodies out there" (which would have probably had almost all the votes)

...there are some songs that are so purely putrid that no amount of polish will cover up its roots.
Friday is one of them. They could get every goddamn angel in heaven to do a cover of it, and I would demand to be sent to hell rather than listen to another second of their rendition.
It is simply that bad.

IMO: The only way for Glee to have done "Friday" right would have been for them to NOT do it.

No offense to op. I just don't like that song. At all.

Wow this song is so awful even Glee does it better. It's still a craptastic song, I don't think even the best artist ever (whoever you consider that to be) could make this bareable.

You know what the sad part is? They had to pay Black's studio so they could do this song. That means that "Friday" actually made money.

This too. It's simply not possible to make this song sound good.

I really hate Friday (the song, not the day) so i wouldnt be the one to ask. to me the song is one of the worst songs to ever have been made.

might i hazard a guess that most other escapists share my opinion?

No offense taken. But maybe because I listened to "Prom Night" (which I'm 100% sure is a parody) made me find new found respect for Friday.

Listen at your own risk.

No, but these guys did.
Second this. The only way to make it listenable is to use what normally turns people off death metal to the songs advantage. The vocals are hard to understand and the blast beats and down tuned guitars drown out your ability to focus on them.

I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other, but the idea of Glee improving ANYTHING makes me feel quite sick...

There is no right way to do that song, and if there is, Glee sure as hell wouldn't be able to do it.

Hey, hey, hey. Matt did a great dub.
Also, Brock.

Oh god...just...no.
No matter how they improve the vocalists, the lyrics still feel like someone is taking a steaming shit in my soul.

Ok the death metal verson is the best posted most as it is lackign the backing and vocal style. Still not what I'd have on my ipod.

For the record I am a death metal fan.

The fact that some average to Broadway level singers did a cover of it would mean that it had to be better.

Of course, what made the original song appealing was how bad it was, so it's reasonable to say that improving it makes it worse.

You have a good point, but then again, I'd rather have the Glee version on my ipod than the actual one.

Not gonna lie, I dont care for glee, and most of the songs they do that arent pop come out sounding terrible with the teen effect.

but I would say that anyhting is better then the original with its ridiculous use of autotune, so yes by default.

The glee version was significantly better than the original; take a picture of this post, because I doubt I'll ever say that again :p

However, the Bob Dylan version is the best:

(It's actually a Bob Dylan impersonator, but it's spot on.)
