Digg and the others rate the number of hits a certain 'project' gets back towards their site and advertises it accordingly. See the Digg etc. icons underneath the Escapist stuff for instance.

Just straw-polling to see if people actually understand or use it.

I Stumble, just because a buddy of mine recommended it and I don´t see the need to try out digg or anything. Most of the sites I find via Stumble are kind of interesting but I don´t have time to read them right away so I have a giant "stumble bookmark" folder by now.

Digg, just because it was the first one I ever saw. I check it way too frequently to be healthy, but never submit things and only rarely Digg them.
