Poll: Dilemma

I got accepted into the national youth band of Canada on both the trombone and the euphonium (it's like a little tuba). I've been playing trombone for much longer. I'm being offered the 2nd trombone part or the 1st euphonium part. It's come to the point that I'm just randomly asking the internet for help.

Firstly, whats the major difference between 1st and 2nd?

Go for the trombone. Atleast I would. Too much big band potential to waste with that.

1st is the best part that gets all the solos. Second is more of a supporting harmonizing role.

I think if you've been playing the trombone for much longer you'll soon get promoted!
Just go with whichever one you enjoy playing more, regardless of whether you'll have the lead or not.
That's my opinion anyway.

well first of all, congratulations, it sounds prestigious, my vote goes to the euphonium thing, just because it sounds mystical, but a trombone might be easier on the back and you can still impress boys/girls by playing some sweet jazz.
