Above. For those unaware Divinity 2 is a fantasy RPG set in a fantasy world called Rivellon where you play as a dragon knight: A person who is able to change into a dragon at will. It was a fun little game and one of my fav games of that year. Now the sequel has been announced made by the same company: dragon commander, it is set in the same world but now its a sci fi RTS (akin in style to brutal legend as you still are a dragon knight, now with stuff like lasers and jets strapped to you)

This has been met with mixed reception from newcomers and fns of the old series

My questions are: do you think this is a good idea to completely overhaul the game like this?
Is this a wise choice to go into an area they have little experience in?
I personally am looking foward to Dragon commander but considering the huge change I cant help but be pesamistic :/

Well the true sequel is probably Divinity: Original Sin.

I don't like the idea of Dragon Commander, it seems wacky and weird and I dunno it just doesn't appeal to me.

I own Divinity 2 and I had heard about the sequel, but I completely forgot about it. Didn't they announce it years ago? It just seemed to dissolve in to the aether.

I don't know if it'll be good or not. I've not played it and I'm not really familiar with the series overall.

Well don't consider it a sequel because it simply isn't, just a RTS spinoff with sort of the same setting.
Don't know many details but from what I've seen it is a very casual RTS, simplistic blob vs blob of units and you can go in and take control yourself... I'm not even sure who these games are made for.

And no I don't agree with such radical jumps or rather stuffing your name on every damn game to milk any fan you might have, this has near no connection to Divinity so just call it Dragon Commander, the name sounds solid on it's own if not downright better.
And then they got another Divinity title coming as an "isometric" party based RPG... god knows if that will have any connection to it either, this franchise just flops all over the place.
