If I like the game there is no problem with me buying DLC but it does irk me when they relese DLC the same day as the game( cough cough Dragon Age).
i understand what you mean..but this was a way of them getting people to buy the game new

if you buy it new, you get the dlc free, in which goes directly to them, instead, you buy it used, they dont get the money, and you have to pay for the DLC

see what i mean?

No. Because it is all optional. You don't have to get any of it. The only thing I don't like about DLC is the overpriced kind.

Show me DLC that's good, adds to the game, and is worth the money and my credit card is out faster than you can say "available on Steam".

Show me DLC that's nothing more than a sprite pack, some music, or horse armor and my card stays firmly planted in my wallet.

I, for one, am completely in favor of taking the traditional expansion pack model and breaking it down into more frequently distributed, smaller, cheaper packages. It means more stuff more often for my favorite games.

Looks like some people are starting to see things straight as i warned them when it came out! if only there was a word offensive enough to counter "DLC"...

in résumé, i Hate DLC.

when i pay for a product, i want it full. not some freakin puzzle piece-to-pay to play...

I like the idea of DLC if it isn't something that should have been in the game to begin with. It's a way for fans of the game to shell out some extra bucks to help their favorite developer produce more and better games. It seems to be abused far too often nowadays though.

Uncharted 2 is the only game I play online. Recently, a few map packs were added, and though I'd love to buy them, I don't have the cash on me right now, or a credit card. Now, whenever I log into multiplayer, I get an alert asking me if I want to purchase it.

Every. Time.

As much as I love the game, boy, is it annoying. Same thing with the ACII 'conveniently missing' memories in the game.

It's not the idea of DLC, it's the stuff that passes for DLC. A few maps for instance, is not worth my money. In order for DLC to be useful it must bring something new to the table. Not just maps, characters, and useless new weapon packs.

They absolutely push it on us. They've gotten into a habit of shipping about 85% of the game and then forcing us to pay extra for the last 15%. It's a sneaky, underhanded way to make more cash. Look at 2K Marin putting the DLC on the disk. They're not even trying to hide it anymore.

That is a perfect example. Do you mind if I use that in the future?
Feel free, it just sprang to mind when i thought about the issue. More than i thought have voted that DLC isnt pushed on us, im genuinly surprised. I did name the two worst examples though.

I was unaware of this, it can sit next to my Cod 5 and Halo arguements for DLC physically changing the way my game is for the crime of not buying it.

Im punished for not buying it, a multiplayer system that simply boots me from every game where DLC is present means i DO have a reason to get it other than i actually want it. Now i simply need it to play team deathmatch (Halo) or not have to quit 3/5 games (WaW). If these systems were fixed id have no issue with it. Also fallout where i still DONT KNOW THE ENDING even though I OWN THE GAME. How sick is that?! I cant tell you what happens because i didnt pay for the ending seperately. Its like flying with Ryan air.

My opinion on this issue? Bring back expansion packs. Pay $20-30, get half a game's worth of bonus content. Release it digitally and retail. Everyone's happy.

So? You can still play with people who don't have it as well. Its not like they're saying "Hey, you either buy this OR you won't be able to play the game at all until you have it." All they are doing is encouraging more people to buy it; you may not like it, you may not want it, and if that's the case, don't get it, its that simple. Also, you did get the ending of Fallout 3. You may not have got the extra dlc continuation, but you got the ending. That's why you have to pay for it, because its extra. But you have to look at dlc the right way. If its $5, $10, $20, whatever, you have to think: "Is the fun I'm going to have worth the EXTRA money I'm going to pay to get the content?" If the answer is yes, you download it, if no, you don't. Alternatively, look at it this way: (I'm assuming here you play online a lot.) "Are the countless hours I'm going to spend playing this multiplayer worth $10 so I can play with anyone?" It basically comes down to how often you are going to play the dlc and if you feel its worth the price they are asking.
