From the very beginning of the DMC 5 release people have literally torn the trailers, the gameplay, the combat and each other apart over it. Angry shouts about 'the true DMC fans won't play this game this isn't Dante' and 'they've changed the frame rate from 60fps to 30fps it's going to suck'. Why do people hate this game already? Why are they condemning Ninja Theory for trying something new at the behest of Capcom? What is wrong with a new adaptation of a character if all the Over The Top action, combat and wise cracks are still there?

Go for it but keep it clean and civil.

The new Dante looks like my asshat ex boyfriend.

I don't like his stupid face. *pout*

Also there is creepy developer self insertion to be considered.

I don't care that much to be mad about it. But it's still pretty funny.

There could be many a reason why people don't like how the game looks or how the gameplay seems to play. But I agree people shouldn't be so apprehensive of change, it'll always be a risk but it's worth it a gem may be brought about from it.

I think it looks pretty good myself. I honestly don't see that much of a difference between the "old" Dante and the "new" one other than the hair color. So I don't know why some people are so up in arms about it

It's like if they "redesigned" PaRappa the Rapper with a blue hat instead of a red one, but left everything else largely unchanged, as it appears to me that they have done with DMC

The new Dante looks like a douchey emo goth. Not like the old one with a new hair style. I see the difference.

Dont call it DMC5, its not a sequel, prequel or midquel of the original series so it has no buisness being called DMC5.

Remember, its a reboot. And you dont number your reboots like you would a se- pre- or midquel.

All things considered if thats what they did to Dante could you imagine what they could do to Vergil?

Not to be rude or anything, but wasn't he a douchey goth before? He acted and sounded like a frat boy (douche) and his look screamed goth (who else would wear a big red trench coat and have a snow white bowl-cut?) He might have had a moral compass but he was still kind of a mopey asshole alot of the time

I thought Dante was a actually kind of funny. But maybe that wasn't intentional I dunno. :<

Oh god the new one looks so much like my ex I hate it. HATE. :<

While the gameplay looked deeent enough to me, every time I look at this new version of Dante, it brings to mind an emaciated male prostitute, willing to do anything, ANYTHING for $20.

I'd like to see a return for Vergil, he was fun.
And frankly, you worded it better than I was trying to: Edward Cullen is not Dante and needs to stop trying to be. The new Dante looks like teenager who's trying too hard to be "cool." The version of cool that makes you want to punch people. It's worse than being a bro
Also, from what I've read, it's not even a "canonical" game, it's a spin-off of sorts. Which is even sillier than whiny teen Dante

Dont goths typically wear black, black leather, dye thier hair black and spend 2 hours a day applying black eyeliner? Or did something change with goths while i wasnt looking?

I liked him when he looked like a mix of emo Mo Howard and Carmen Sandiago, now he just looks... whiny.

If Ninja Theory add in a Dark Slayer style I'll be happy.

So far I'm rather optimistic about this reboot, but this new Dante looks even more thuggish than "classic" Dante, which I don't like. Give me an elegant playstyle like Virgil's Dark Slayer and I'll be happy.

I liked him well enough, he's not my favorite character ever but he's in no way the worst either. I'm just pointing out that there's really not quite as big a difference between the new and old Dantes as people are making it seem like

I'm sure they still do, I don't really follow goths/scene kids that closely, but I doubt very many people look at Dante and think "what a prep/AV nerd/etc"

Because they changed his hair! How stupid is that? Don't you people change your hairdress over time, or you always look the same? Considering this is a prequel I don't really see what the problem is.

That's why most developers don't take risks. Because as soon as you change something gamers will complain about it. Remember Max Payne 3? And now it's considered one of this years best games despite Max being bald at some times in the game.

Really people, if we don't want the same game year after year, we shouldn't complain about changes just for the sake of complaining before checking whether the game is good or not.

I have literally no idea why everyone is getting so up-in-arms about this game. It's as Yahtzee said: "You should never be afraid of change." They're trying to take the series in a new direction before it got stale.

While I understand all of the goods things that may come with the game, I already dislike some of Dmc5 (maybe called the new Dmc since it's a reboot and not a sequel)

1)Dante's Attitude
The way Dante acts in the past 4 games was that, no matter what he was doing or what happened, he was able to play it off and act like it was no big deal. Girl busts throught he front door? Tell her that the bathroom is over there. Get impaled with his own sword? Still trolls Nero some more. Think his brother his dead? Shed a single tear, call it an ordeal, and move on to kick some demon butt. The new Dante doesn't seem to have that much attitude compared to the past Dante. His attitude is the reason why I fell in lo..I mean the fans fell in love with.

2) Rebellion
Rebellion was just that, a sword that was used to slice and dice his enemies. The new version of Rebellion can turn into a rope AND scythe to attack demons? This seems like potential losses for the purpose of what the point of other Devil Arms is for.

That being said, I still have "HIGH HOPES" for this game, seeing as how strike 3 has yet to be met, and.....because of the scene where he was without clothes. However, Lack of Vergil, or not doing well with him, is the highest chance of strike 3 for me.
