Poll: DMC 5 Why all the hatred?

Becase all the small things that irritate me just pile up into one big ball of hate. Everything from making a completely new character and calling him Dante, to the fact that it's being developed by Ninja Theory. I'm basically expecting this to be another DMC 4. Passable, but completely mediocre.
Also I'm bitter over the fact that there will never be another Devil May Cry 3.

Because it looks different and since thats all we have to go on people draw conclusions from that I dont think it will be as bad as people make out I mean Ninja Theory have made good games and Capcom is overseeing it. I am with a few others in saying that I dont think it will match Bayonetta in the combat department though no DMC has.

It would have been more sensible to start a new IP (gameplay wise) and retire DMC but then that would not have brand recognition so I can see why they didnt and who knows the game might actually be good the series needed something to happen it was a bit lost after the first one 3 was ok but the first was amazing for its time and still great fun even now.

OT: From what little I have seen of the game, it looks cool. Not exactly a fan of the series, btw, but not a hater either. I have only played 1 and 3, and I quite liked both, 3 especially.

I have no investment in the DMC franchise, I played a little bit of the first one and didnt like it and never touched it again.

I do how ever, enjoy Ninja Theories games. They're a bit so so on the game play, neither good nor bad and kind of generic, but they are really good at creating deep and interesting characters. I will be checking out this new DMC game.

Is it really that hard to understand why people hate it when the only thing similar is the names? There is a lot of trust in a name, and a promise of quality and DmC fails to live up to Devil May Cry expectations. To the fans, it doesn't matter if it's a good game or not, what matters is if it's a good DMC.

People are condemning Ninja theory based on their past games where the gameplay was the worst part of the game. They'll praise the story or environments, which can make a good game but that's not what DMC is about. Not to mention I'm not seeing any of NT's quality in this.
In DMC all the over the top action was ssstylish, now they changed it to over the top sadistic, just look at the "style" meter. Even if they are both over the top they are completely different. And the combat is as similar as a 4kids dub to the original. Also DmC doesn't even have the same tone for wisecracks. Compare above to DMC4's Agnus scene. Even flock off feather face is more entertaining then yelling fuck you back and forth.

Oh and not to mention how Tameem has been treating the old fans like saying how he doesn't care what they think and how they secretly want to like it might have something to do with it as well.

I have not enjoyed most of what NT have done (I had some fun with Enslaved) so if they had done this with a new IP I think I would have tried it but as they have insisted on calling it DmC I will not buy it. I want Devil May Cry 5 not a reboot, reamangining, whatever. I do not care what they say, they intended for this to be a reboot and after seeing the fanboy hate they quickly said that this was an alternate universe.

And as for the guy in charge (cannot remember his name), basicaly saying fuck you to the exsisting fan base is just a dick move. It reminds me of Brad Wright, co-creator of the Stargate franchise. When Stargate Universe begane and many fans of SG-1 and Atlantis hated it he said that they did not matter and that Universe was so awesome that it would make new fans and they (the old fans) could go screw themself. Then when it tanked he blamed the old fans saying it was all there fault.

Just watch, if DmC tanks they will blame it on the fanboy hatred.

Before E3 I would have defended new Dante to the fucking death. I have had a stupid number of arguments with people damning the new him, I was so god damn excited for this game, I even kinda liked the new attitude and look. Then.... Then the "fuck you" video. This game isnt Devil May Cry 5. It was an actual sequel to the games we know, fans wouldnt be up in arms about it.People who are outside of the argument boil down all the hate to "the hair color is wrong", but thats only one of many problems. The ENTIRE new character model sucks and fans want the old one back.

But I think the most important point is that Ninja Theory doesnt care if the game is good or not. After the very first trailer using the new "Dante", G4 had an interview with the developers. It basically boiled down to "We're gonna keep like is, and the fans will deal with it". Then, pretty much every interview after that he told DMC fans to stop whining. Capcom should be handing this franchise off to people like that.

Yet it boils down to one thing. Get the DMC HD collection and play it. Then play the 2 Ninja theory games Heavenly Sword and Enslaved. Which one has entertaining gameplay, and which is boring as hell if not for the story? I rest my case.

I did not like what they did with Metroid's gameplay and I am incredibly skeptical about the gameplay here. Sure it "looks" good, but you don't really know how it is till you play it. I can look past everything else, very easily if the gameplay is there. But I do not think these guys can deliver a satisfying combat system. AND if they Are able to, I don't think they can do it better than DMC3 so I'd rather just go play that one.

Ninja "Theory" is remaking DMC. Not Team Ninja.

Team Ninja is the Ninja Gaiden guys. Ninja Theory is the Enslaved: Oddessy to the West, and Heavly sword guys.

I'm not the biggest DMC fan as I only got into it when DMC4 came out and the series came to the Xbox 360. So take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

IMO, "DmC" is just weird. The modern update of Dante doesn't really fit into the series aesthetics or themes. The original developer's idea of Dante was to make their idea of the "coolest person imaginable". He wasn't meant to be depressed, sad or in any way ever "loose his cool". The new Dante leaves that all behind for something that is just bad. It's not the different part necessarily, they could have done a spin-off and changed Dante without too much trouble but they simply approached it wrong

There are also a long list of reasons involving lore that long-time DMC fans have already discussed to death.

In the end, it doesn't effect the original games as it is a spin-off but I certainly won't be buying it and if it's cancelled I won't lose any sleep over it.

People make it sound like Dante stops every five minutes in thw game to cut himself. The gameplay hasnt really shown any signs of a depressed or Emo dante. People saw the first trailer and are judging everything from that. I can understand that the gameplay might not be were some people want it but people cant still seriously be bitching about the emo issue. I don't like any of Ninja Theory's games so far so I doubt I'll like this one. Plus, I'm not feelin' DmC or whatever because there is literally no reason for the reboot. None. Devil May Cry didn't exactly have a solid story anyway, it would have been just as easy to make an original story and give it a random number.

It's basically like the new Spider-Man movie. It's okay, but it's not great, because it's mostly an origin story for a character we are already familiar with. I mean, Dante got an origins story in Devil May Cry 3. It's a little soon to be rebooting.

I'm sure the game will come out and be mediocre. I'll try it, but then I try everything.

Anyone who says the change to 30 FPS isn't a big thing for this type of game is either trolling, doesn't understand its relevance(which is fair enough I won't hate anyone for not know) or deluding themselves. These games need to be responsive and quick with controls but 30 fps just isn't as good as 60 fps in this regard. I know why it is capped but I don't think it is worth the degradation in combat.
