I've got a friend I've known since we were kids. He's not my best friend, but we hung out a lot (along with my best friend) until I moved during middle school with my family across the country (my dad was in the Navy). We kept in contact and I visited him every time I went back to my hometown, and now we mainly talk through facebook.
Here's the thing... during high school and college, he's taken the mindset of a "fuck the man" anti-establishment type of person. EVERY post of his that isn't about something cool he saw is about some kind of corruption or abuse by someone in authority, be it the government, the military, the police, what have you. I'm down with a little cynicism when it comes to authority, and in fact my best friend probably shares or at least acknowledges a lot of the points he makes, but my best friend doesn't take things quite so far or so seriously.
The frequency and sometimes exaggerated nature of these posts are getting annoying, especially since when I've started debates with him (or on occasion just pointed out that he was incorrect using facts) he doesn't seem to want to debate, he just reiterates the same point he made originally. So I've stopped trying, and I'm REALLY tempted to just start trolling him, not in a mean way, but just enough to get him riled up before I remind him it's not a big deal.
Would that be okay? Can friends troll friends and still stay friends? I still like this guy, I just find his political views... grating.
