Okay, so I'm not a violent person, nor do I have anger issues of any kind. When I'm out somewhere I always have a good stare about for all signs of security such as guards, video surveillance and whatnot, I'm a bit over-analytical. Very recently It's started crossing my mind that I can get away with a lot of stuff in a lot of places. An example would be a Debenhams store at a nearby shopping centre. There are no electronic barriers on the doors, no clothes are tagged and there are plenty of blind spots. I can't help but realise that I could get away with stealing a LOT of clothes. There's a similar point at school. There is an astonishing number of cameras in my school, with less than 10% of them that actually function. The main purpose of their presence in the hallways and such is to act as a deterrant to bad behaviour.

Walking around my school, now college, for 6 years, I've taken note of which cameras actually work, and thus have realised that there are many ways I could fight people and get away with it.

Okay, this stuff is never planned or anything. It simply crosses my mind and I never look further into it than to say "hmm, that's neat". So my question is: Do I have some kind of problem for being able to point out these things, or is it something that crosses everyone's mind?

I do that all the time. It's fun to imagine things like that on a nice, boring day. Don't worry, you're normal as long as you don't actually act on them urges.

It's good to know the security of your current area.

When I walk around I'm always on the lookout for potential threats, and means to disable them.

Despite being in questionably one of the safer parts of Chicago. In broad daylight. You never know when it could happen.

Ah yes I do that too from time to time, there are only four working camera's in my college 1 in each of the 3 main hallways and one facing down into the canteen the rest are fake...let the crime spree begin!

Right now you're just being inquisitive, analytical, observant, and just generally smart. This has nothing to do with being delinquent. It's when you're smart, observant, analytical, and delinquent that people start getting hurt. So don't do that.

There's nothing wrong with noticing this shit as long as you don't start exploiting it.

"Security" as we know it is 95% illusion. Just because you know that you can get away with much more than the authorities want anyone to think they can doesn't mean that you're going to act on it (or that it would ever be worth it).

No all your doing is being very observant and getting to know your surroundings. Until you act upon your urges you're just the average person to the security guardsmen

I constantly think about things like that, but only with me it's about how easy it would be to perpetrate a murder or terrorist attack. I don't have a problem. I just get bored and my mind wanders.

Every time I see somebody sitting down in a place where they could fall backwards, and not really paying attention, I get the intense desire to just run up and break my fist on their face to watch them fall. I don't know why.

Everybody has problems.

I also know how to remotely access security cameras from here.
There's a WikiHow on it.

That doesn't mean I'm going to use that information to rob a bank or something.

Just to look at some buildings or whatever.

I've heard that someone who thinks like you is an ideal candidate for a crime prevention job. The stores that stop shoplifters are those that hire former shoplifters to help them with crime prevention.

will I do it it? NOOOOOOOOOOOO

I think it's normal to understand your surrounding and know what will work and what won't.

One of my friends likes to point out all the blind spots at Skytrain stations.

I voted no, because I do that too, and I'm fairly sure I am not crazy.

...This kind of information could be very useful to me. I remember when I was younger, maybe 10-ish, My aunt, who's 7 years older than me, and all her friends were able to access a DIY store's security cameras or something. I remember her telling my about it.

Not really. I have things in my head I would consider much more of a problem and I don't bother dwelling on them.

Every single time I enter a new place, I always check for exit routes.

Humans are just like that. We crave adventure.
