This poll definitely needs a "Cheese" option...

It's just not the same without that random option...

As I do agree the random options can be annoying and too many (but still funny), there are times when there isn't enough. I see polls with yes and no choices but has no middle ground option. There is simultaneously too much and too little options. I say keep polls short but give some more choices.

Though I have been guilty of this, I do agree with you. There are some instances when you don't need to have so many options for answers. But, then agin, there are examples when you do need multiple options

Bottom line: Do not put more options on your poll than absolutely necessary
This is actually a rule somewhere in the guidelines I believe. If not, then it should be common sense but most of the time people still put stupid options in their polls.

My pet peeve runs the opposite way. I hate it when people make polls with far more than eight possible answers, and watch as the "other" option gets 80% of the votes.

I was hoping this poll was a joke with like 27 different options like:

Yes
No
Maybe
Sometimes
All the time
No Times
Only on Tuesdays
37!

I agree on the part about some options ruining the poll, but polls can actually have lots of options and still be logical. Especially with ''favorite character?'' kind of threads, where you actually need much options to be able to choose the option you want.

so bottom line: it actually depends on the type of thread
