Question's pretty much in the title guys. What do you think? That blood relatives come first no matter what or that it does not matter if you are related to someone?

I personally don't think blood is thicker than water as one of the people I was raised by that I call dad is no actualy relation to me, nor is the rest of his family who love me as though I was.

Blood is blood.
Business is business.
Second they ask for money, it turns to business and damn right i'd make my sister sign a legal document to pay back money I loaned to her. Since "We're family." is normally the beginning of the event of "I will never pay you back. Because X when growing up." or a equal excuse.

Need blood, marrow...sure. Kidney not to sure how bad family treated me in the past... moral support? Hey anytime.

But never money...

I try not to base my trust in someone based on their relative density compared to water.

While I would never do anything against my family, I am not very close to them. I am far closer with my friends. So, nope it isn't thicker

I've dealt with a lot of blood in my lifetime, and I can safely say it is thicker than your average drinking water...if you refer to bloodlines than yes, family is a bit more important than water.

Just because you are family doesn't mean I can count on you. One must earn trust, once they are trusted then they can count on my support.

Being blood gets you in the door, doesn't mean I will help you.

Blood is thicker than water is a stupid idea! It's the sort of mentality that got people killed in places like NI. No need to think of the lives your destroying on the other side of the wall as people to, because your just stickin' with your "family". Even if there a bunch of psychotic, bigoted murderers.

No, but I believe in looking after those chosen few you are close to above all else, be they biological kin or not.

I still have no idea what the water represents in that saying.

Personal gain?
Material goods?
Friends?
People who give you shit?
Your own well-being?
God forbid, actual water?

...such a silly saying... how does friendship equate to water?

But... not really. There are people in my family I have silently disowned, for I believe they are well and truly evil.

There are people not in my family that I would go to the extremes for as if they were my family, and for some people even more. No, I don't think blood is thicker than water.

God fucking damn it I am never in time to make a witty quip before anyone else.

Anyway, no. I treat everyone the same. I really don't give a flying fuck if we happen to be related or not. Whether this means I am horrible to my family or inordinately kind to everyone depends on who you ask.

Most would say the former.

Don't care about my family that much I mean if someone offered me 1000 dollars or my sisters life than hey guess what, I'm $1000 dollars richer.
