Nope that's a phrase usually uttered right before a relative tries to plug you for another favor. Actions thicker than all of it.

Of course it's thicker, it's basic science!
If you mean the old saying, I'v never cared much for my family. Annoying is what they are. I don't get why they should get special treatment just cuz they were lucky enough to be chosen to be the host family of a God among men.

Well... Technically yes.

But without being a pedant, not necessarily. I'll probably be biased towards a family member, but they can be (and frequently are) wrong.

Blood relations aren't something you pick, so why should it matter more than other things?

No,I do not think that blood is thicker then water because it depends all on the personalty of the person and if they are related to you or not is not important according to me.

Come on, lads.. Enough jokes about the consistency of blood relative to water, just answer the bloody question.

As for me, I think personally that..

Hmm. Not sure.

Shit.

Fair enough, bring on the bad jokes.

Yes. It is proven that most animals (including humans) give preferential treatement to their immediate relatives over a stranger. Anything else is an anomoly.

You're honestly going to tell me that you would be just as likely to help pay for an emegency surgery for a complete stranger as for your own mother? Yeah, I thought not.

While i wouldnt pay for emergency surgery for a stranger myself, i would certainly donnate to a group effort to help them out. I definitely wouldnt for my mother.

Although to be fair, the majority of my family would get at least as good treatment from me as a stranger, and some would even get better because i consider them good people on the basis of our interaction to date. It just happens that mother is a bad example for me.

well, considering that about half of my blood relatives are worthless scum, and my stepdad is (although a pain in the neck) one of the best people i know, i'd definitely have to say that blood means next to nothing.

Not for me it ain't. The only reason I would pick my family over some strangers is the fact that I've known them for a long period of time and have a good relationship with 'em, not becaust we're related. Friends would probably trump them though.

Eh, I picked mother because it seems like a lot of people have poor relationships with their fathers on this site. In fact, a lot of people here have poor familial relations in general.

Where's the love people? Where are the family bonds, the sibling dynamics, the father-son/mother-daughter relationships? Where'd it all go?

Quite partial to white dwarves personally. I'd certainly not want to have the fragment of one land on me.

-----------------

OT:
It all depends for me. I don't think it's necessarily true that just because someone's related to you they immediatly mean more to you. It all depends more on the connection you have to the person in question.
In your case for instance, the man might not be your father, but he is your dad and in the end that's what counts and that's what constitutes family.
To me I guess family matters more than blood relations.

If that makes any sense.
