Yup. That would be the scientific consensus currently, right? I'm not going to pretend to know more than the experts do, so yeah, I believe it.

I could say Yes or No, but I wouldn't have anything to back that up with.
So I chose Unsure.

I don't :/ I used to but as op as said there is actually a second side to this debate and I've heard reports on how information was falsified and some facts simply ignored as well as I'm extremely hesitant to follow anything this sensationalized nor do I entertain such tinfoil hat theories that its a way of funding research for nuclear friggen bombs man but with so much false information flowing around about it I mean good old Al Gore's video had a temperature over time graph that had some points going backwards, and it claimed global warming was killing polar bears lets ignore the storms recorded around the times of their deaths no its global warmings fault.

I simply refuse to pick a side, if we get cold fusion running as a result of this then yay , if we get hot fusion or more nuclear plants then less yay but still yay I guess but just as a kicker mars is getting hotter as well and all the temperature changes up to the 1980s were predicted as part of a model of our solar cycle with there currently being a unaccounted for 0.4 degrees Celsius rise in average temperatures.

On a more personal level my home town went through their coldest winter in 80 years not too long ago , where snow used to be something that happened maybe once or twice in my childhood it is now a yearly or bi yearly event thought its not statistical data in any way shape or form I just wish science could go about its business more freely without being molested by the media bandwagon.

Even if it didn't believe in it, I would still support everything the movement is trying to do. It doesn't hurt to want my air breathable... in some places it nearly isn't. How anyone can think that's ok is beyond me.

I do think it's a natural phenomena, albeit sped up quite a bit by our own influence.
I say that the best we can do now is prepare for what is to come, we can not stop it.

Lots of hard science on this topic, it is very real.

I don't believe in it for like the bogeyman, if i do believe in it then it exists!

Serious answer: i believe enough in it to not be wasteful and recycle as much as i can to minimize my contribution.

Ultimately though it's likely to be all for naught and by the time even the most wealth driven oil tycoon realizes that if humanity gets fucked there will be no more profits for anybody, it will likely be far too late and so our race will perish by its own short sightedness and greediness, never accomplishing any of its potential and which will be seen as a cautionary tale millenia from now when aliens come upon the remnants of human civilization.

Considering how much energy the sun bombards us with every day, I'm going to say it's pretty arrogant to think that man is the only cause of global warming. The fact is, we've been on this earth for such a short time, and even shorter is our ability to measure and catalog data about its temperature. There is no way to tell if what we are measuring is truly our fault.

I'm quite certain we did cause some damage at some point though. The ozone layer and CFC's being something completely provable.

EDIT: I forgot to point out how I also don't trust agendas with a lot of cash behind them. I remember Penn and Teller doing an episode on going green. Al Gore's motives behind the movie was hardly for the sake of the planet. Also, the episode lead with reading an excerpt from a magazine talking about the dangers and current effects of the warming, and how it all spelt certain and impending doom just over the horizon. They then revealed the article was written in the 70's, pointing out how these alarmist discussions have been around for decades, and we really aren't worse for wear.

Edit 2:

Found the episode on youtube
The crazies they find in the episode are a fun addition, but their retardation isn't swaying me in the opposite direction. I'm mostly interested in that chart near the beginning.

Global warming is absolutely happening and there is no dispute that the earth is on average getting warmer. The only argument is whether it is due to natural causes or man, and the vast majority of scientists believe it is due to artificial activity.

Even if global warming was false, we're facing a pretty serious fuel crisis in 50 years once the shale gas runs out. The best time to transition to a renewable economy is when energy is cheap and it doesn't cost a lot to make solar panels, wind turbines, etc. The benefits of energy independence alone are enough to change our lifestyle, even if we don't believe in anthropogenic climate change.
Pretty much this. So the poll is just not set up right it would be better to ask if you believe or dont believe in man made global warming on top of climate change in general.

We have lots of untapped oil resources floating around, heck people are drilling wells in ohio now, with the rising costs of oil it makes those harder to tap, smaller reserves of oil more attractive to drill. Now if the goverment would just get off their high and mighty horse and let states decide if they want to allow drilling offshore or in caribu country.

The midwest aquifer however will be tapped out in 30 to 50 years. And that will cause massive problems for the mid west and california are3as that depend on that water for green grass and farming.

Social security and medicare will be bankrupt in about the same time frame.

Heck even if it is true that all oil reserves are tapped, we have bigger looming problems.

Add to the party 2 super volcanoes on the planet that are both overdue for eruption. And weither or not global warming is natural or man made will be a mute point when either decides to explode. Heck maybe these extra few degreees willl save us a few 100 yards of ice, or increase the habital zones on the coasts.

Thats like asking do you believe in gravity. Global warming is a fact, and while you can pretend it is not real, you wont float away. The actual discussion is whether it is man-made or natural.
Well I didn't have to look far in order to find my thoughts already expressed. :p
As Strazdas said, the question isn't whether or not it exists, it's whether we're the cause of it or whether it's part of earth's natural warming-cooling cycle.

IT is definitely happening, and human behavior is likely the major causal factor in how fast it is happening.

Consequently it is unlikely to stop. If it was simply a matter of solar radiation going out of whack, we as a world would quickly put together a plan to solve it using rockets or something. If it was a matter of volcanic action, we would probably we working out how to solve that.

But with it being human action, it requires a concerted global legislative effort to sort it out, which implies the need for some sort of 'New World Order' which is a concept that is absolutely terrifying to Americans.

Here's the great thing about science: it doesn't matter whether you believe it or not, it's still right (or on the right path). Global warming is a very real thing, especially when the American [a href="http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/news/ncdc-releases-july-2013-global-climate-report"]NOAA[/a] reported that July was the 341st consecutive month where global temperatures were above average. Please try to refute that in any way.

Belief is irrelevant. Evidence suggests that climate change is occuring, although I'm still unconvinced that it is caused mainly/entirely by humans. Significant planetary temperature shifts occured in the past, without any human interference whatsoever (Medieval climatic optimum, Little ice age). After the Climategate thing leaked I became even more reluctant to listen to these "climatologists" and their constant doomsaying.

I think I'll just continue to observe the world for the next thirty to fifty years and decide for myself.

Not believing in global warming is kinda like not believing that the earth goes around the sun or that the earth was once populated by dinosaurs or not believing in evolution.

Now why would I claim such certainty? Because it has happened before. On several occasions. Global warming isn't just something that is happening. It is something that has happened. It's a pretty big deal from an evolutionary point of view since the stages with highest temperatures have been both devastating and beautiful. The highest rates of speciation usually occurs at the eras with the highest average temperature.

Global warming is natural and we can claim that it won't happen. It will happen and it's happening at an alarming pace. The speed of it is what's unnatural, not the process itself.

It's a fact and it's a natural phenomenon, while humans have affected the rate it's occuring we are not the sole cause, I believe we can reduce our impacts on what is happening, but we can't alter the fact that it's happening, nor can we stop it.

I don't believe in manmade global warming

The earth has been changing over years and years and years ever since the beginning of our existence, at some point earth was much warmer than it is today its a natural occurring part of the earths eco-system, I would reword the poll to "man-made global warming"

Personally if you read any non biased research not made by crazy environmentalists with their own agenda to get rid of any and all types of "pollution" (a.k.a. ban oil and gas) You will find that yes at the moment earth is going through a warming stage, but its no higher than any natural warming or cooling of our planet

So personally man made global warming=bogus and people like Suzuki have their own agendas to basically ban oil and force the world to rely on much less reliable energy sources

I get especially pissed when people talk about man made global warming because most of my friends parents work in the oil and gas industry and if oil/gas were ever banned (like some idiots want) they would undoubtly lose their jobs and be totally financially screwed over

I think that we need to drop the "Do you believe in global warming" and start asking "Do you believe in man-caused Global warming"

Also don't think I hate environmentalists, some of them are super smart good people that actually want to do something productive like say, stop overfishing in parts of the world

In conclusion Man-Caused Global Warming is Bogus, but natural climate change is totally normal
