I do, in fact. I like for my already bad eyes to not roll to the point where they actually switch places from trying to decipher some jackasses poor attempt in simple English ,and I'd like for my readers to not to have to suffer the same when he/she reads something I wrote.

Though I will admit, it is funny calling people out on it and then they get mad saying that you're trying to turn whatever discussion into English 101 or something. Personally, I'm relatively certain I shouldn't need a translator to read something in my own fucking language. I'm just saying.

Yep, I do it everywhere, computer posts, texts, console messages, everywhere. We have to draw the line on language somewhere, and that's where I draw it. You can speak in all the acronyms you want, but correct punctuation and capitalization should be standard (it isn't, but it should be).

Yes, I do. It's really just second nature to me. I never even had a phase where I used Internet slang, so I was definitely one of those people who were utterly confused when it became a casual thing to do. Even to this day I have to look up the abbreviations sometimes.

What I don't get is why some people bastardize words and make them as long as the original word, if not longer - I thought the aim of such bastardization (which annoys me whatever its motive) was to make things shorter and easier to write - this especially fails when texting on a phone with predictive text.
Another of my pet peeves is the use of an apostrophe by some to mark a plural i.e. banana's. What is up with that? Surely the default should be the great tradition within our language of just adding an 's' for plurals?

I remember a time when I didn't, but I do now. I had to re-learn all my grammar and punctuation because they didn't put enough emphasis on it in grade school. I also try expanding my vocabulary and improving my spelling everyday, which I have become very good at.

There is a difference between "I had to help my uncle Jack of his horse." or "i had to hulp unkl jack of his hores" One sounds a little wrong take, a guess witch.

OT: I try to use the best punctuation, grammar and spelling although I might not always be correct.

Written word will often suffer from misunderstanding, even when using proper spelling and punctuation. So I try to use punctuation to avoid further confusion. I don't get why some others won't. It's really no bother whatsoever.

Yeah I try to use punctuation all the time. Internet, texts, emails, I try to make them completely understandable to everyone, and punctuation is just the first step.

I like my thoughts and sentences to at least seem organized. Punctuation and grammar go a long way towards that.

Like Frequen-Z (above), I also do the same when sending a text. On older phones it's was quicker and easier to use "txt spk" but now it's so much easier, especially now predictive texting has gotten better. I can only speak for my phone on that matter so hold the flames!
*Sniffles* You made my cell phone go through a mid-life crisis...

I still type properly on my "old" phone and I have gotten almost as good as someone who uses those new and hip phones. I just have to type correctly, it is my purpose.

Oh, and the beginning of the topic creator's post makes me cringe at the sight of the lower case "i". Its the beginning of a sentence man!

yes, or at least I try to be as correct as possible while writing, despite this, I still do a considerable amount of spelling mistakes due to my language mix

I hate the god-damned sms speech and internet "language" that people use. Don't they realise it makes it look like they dropped out of school in 2nd grade?

Surely it must take more brainpower to write like an idiot, than to write like a normal person with basic schooling?
