I do not buy pre-owned games.
This is mainly because I am a PC gamer though, and most stores don't trade in PC games because of the number that only allow a one time activation (on Steam for example).

I used to. I would go to Game and HMV whenever I was down on the mainland to see what games they had. But now I buy all my games from Steam. Hooray.

If I can't find it new, or if the game is like three years old and still selling at full price everywhere.

That is, very rarely.

Yeah. I own a few, but I prefer buying new!

The problem I have is that the local GameStop is quite small, and at any one time they only have, at most, 5 or 6 new titles.
If I want something more than one month old, I HAVE to buy second-hand...

Yes I do indeed. Sometimes I don't have the money for a full priced game and a $25 dollar used copy is too tempting. I also buy used when the quality of the game is iffy or if I'm unsure if I'll like it(Alpha Protocol, Endwar, GRAW 2, Two Worlds 2 come to mind). Buying used games has exposed me to games and their devs I wouldn't have considered otherwise and makes me more likely to trust certain devs more(meaning I'll likely pick up another of their games new).

I used to buy nothing but pre-owned games because the prices in Sweden are really high. Since I discovered a very cheap site in the UK(at least compared to here, don't know the UKs regular prices) with free shipping I've only bought new games. <3
What's the site?

Yes, I buy used games. Why? Because I own a PS1, Gamecube, GBA SP, Sega Genesis, and a PC. I also have an older XBox 360. I buy new when I can't find a used copy and I can afford it, but I usually try and get it used. Games these days are pricey as hell.

Not really, ordering on-line is usually cheaper than the pre-owned games of brick-and-mortar shops, and I don't have the patience to hunt down pre-owned games on-line. Plus a fair few of the games I like would be all but impossible to find second-hand anyway.

If I happened upon a game I wanted, that's significantly cheaper for being pre-owned, then I'd obviously buy it though.

I voted no. I've bought 2 pre-owned games in my history as a gamer and they were years ago. I almost always buy a game brand new within the first month of release, on Steam through sales, or wait until years after release when new is half the price or less.

I don't have the developer in mind when I buy a game. I just prefer new as I know most people don't care for physical copies of games like I do. The used games I bought didn't have instructions and the discs were worn (but still worked perfectly).

Gamestop's preowned game policy should be considered extortion. In most areas there aren't very many places (other than Gamestop) to go to sell games and they pay less than $10 for a game that's just a few months old (or less) then jack the price up to $45 when they sell it.

Of course I do. But, then, the only console system I have is a PS2...

That said, even if I was an XBOX360 + Wii + PS3 + Commodore64 owner like my brother, I'd still buy as many second-hand games as I could because
a) they're cheaper, which leaves more money for silly things like petrol and food and
b) I haven't been excited by any new releases on any system since Gal Civ II brought out their second expansion pack.

Pretty much usually get pre-owned, works out cheaper and I'm a pretty good bargain hunter.

Picked up a copy of Mortal Kombat, in perfect condition, about two months after release and only paid £2.00 for it :D

Although on the rare occassion I do buy new I'll trade in a bunch of stuff that I'm done with so that I can afford it, as it's the only way I can ever afford to buy new (and I work for a living!)

It's becoming less and less viable, what with online passes, activation codes and retarded DRM measures and whatnot, but yes, I do, though not often. I think my most recent purchase was a bundle consisting of Uncharted 1 & 2 and Afro Samurai, for around 40 Euros.

It depends on the pricing differences for me. If the used copy is about 5-10 dollars less than the new one, I'll usually opt for the new copy to avoid scratches, damage, etc. If the used copy is significantly less than the new copy, then I'll go ahead and buy the used copy.

Nope, I live in Australia, so I buy my games online and new.

That way they come region-free, have spoogy DLC codes with them for free and are cheaper than retail used copies.

I haven't bought a game retail for at least 3 years.
