Poll: Do you consider yourself a "Nerd"?

Well...I play a lot of sport (rugby, football, cricket etc.), do well in tests, love video games and go out often. I have no idea what category I fall into, but tbh I don't care. people who make a big deal about it are people i dont associate with.

simple question. as for myself, i'm not really sure, because nerd are smart people, and i'm not really that smart (even though lots of my classmates in school think so). all i do is play games. is knowing a lot about games considered nerdy?

Yeah, just about everyone plays game now-days (70 odd % of Americans own a games console) its not Nerdy, and I don't considor myself a Nerd - I considor it a form of addiction though.

Nerd? No, nerds do good in school and are knowledgeable in subjects that matter. I am a geek, geeks do good with technology and are knowledgeable in awesome subjects like movies and video games. I am a geek and proud of it.

I fucking hate that phrase. It should be 'You can't eat your cake and have it.' If you have a cake, of course you're going to eat it.

I always thought that it's like if you have a cake for example a wedding cake (some people like to save a piece of it for their 10th anniversary) and you eat the entire thing will you still have that cake? no you wont, it's an antiqued term coined before consuming and possessing were lumped together in the 'to have' category.

And yes I am a nerd, I've turned down sex in order to go to a military arms show, and one more time to go to a museum and they were both worth it.

Considering my penchant for anime, manga, children's card games and hardcore video gaming, I'd say that I'm a fairly nerdy. However equally, I go out with friends, I have a relatively active sex life (as always, take it with a pinch of salt ;p) and I do often drop my gaming 'commitments' to go out to the pub with a bunch of guys from school. I'm a nerd with non-nerdy attributes in my life. Maybe I'm a multiclassed nerd?

Yeah I would consider myself to be a nerd. That doesn't mean that I think im a suspenders wearing virgin with disney wallpaper, It means I wouldn't dissagree if somebody put me in that category of prejudice, because thats all it is.

All us hardcore gamers are "nerds" but being so means that we can see past the prejudice and we understand that we all come from different social backgrounds and countries and believe it or not, a lot of us have girlfriends and do most of the stuff other people do. You could compare it to being black in the days of slavery, people throught they were all the same but only they and a few open minded others knew the truth of it. As is with all prejudice. So yes, I'm a "nerd" and I'm proud of it!

Erm... Kinda? I mean I do do some very nerdy stuff, I've RPd in the past, I play a lot of games and I watch some anime. But I do my fair share of non nerdy stuff as well eg. playing football, "socialising" and going to a lot of gigs.

My girlfriend calls me a nerd/geek. I'm more than a casual gamer, but.. Eh.

I don't think it's something to be ashamed of, I honestly wouldn't mind having that on top of being called a 'metal head'. o.o

I consider myself a nerd because:
A) I play a lot of games.
B) I am good with technology.

However, I also partake in a lot of sports, so I guess I'm a mixed bag.

My friends say I'm like a bag Revels, some parts of me you like, and you can relate to, some parts you dislike, and don't understand.

But you love the orange bits.

Mhm... More or less. I have a lot of nerd qualities in me, and just as many non-nerd qualities too. The thing that leads me to believe that I'm not a nerd is... Well, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed n.n

Soo, I'm not quite sure if I am one or not =/. If I was one though, I would be proud of it =]
