In the words of Metal Gear Awesome "Hell YEA".
That video of FOX news and mass effect made me start to puke from the whole video and the crack about Princess Diaries Adventures not being for 6 year olds. I didn't know it was reporting when the whole thing is biased. I think that can be libel and slander charges right there.

We don't need to change this into a fox or right wing bashing thread (besides, I admit that Mass Effect segment was bad, but honestly, most of the video game fluff pieces come from left wing news sources, if only because most news stations are on the liberal side of things).

I get sick and tired of these news people talking about how much they "know" about video games they never played remember the controvercy over Mass Effect here is a trajedy that was spawned from ignorance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0kdm7fg804&feature=related

Yeah, we're idiots alright. Like that time I jumped on all those turtles and shot down a taxi driver.

Jesus Christ. I've never played Mass Effct, but I can tell you it's not a "30 hour" sex orgy.

I've been gaming basically since I was old enough to sit upright and focus on a screen and somehow I've never encountered the issue of not being able to tell game and reality apart...how very surprising.

there are 6 possible sexual encounters in the game

Male and Female Shepard and the Consort: This situation involves nudity to the shoulders, a hug, and a hand on the window.

Female and Male Shepard with T'soni: I haven't seen the female/t'soni scene, but the Male with T'Soni scene involves some side boob and about 6 seconds of butt.

Male Shepard and Ashley: Same deal with Male with T'Soni.

Female Shepard with Kaiden: I haven't seen this either, but I assume it's probably just the previous scene with the roles reversed.

Any attempt to create a 3some scenario is shot down.

Hell, JADE EMPIRE, Biowares last game DID involve a 3some option, and 2 possible gay options as well (while T'Soni appears female, her race doesn't have genders, but in Jade Empire, Sky is DEFINATELY a man, and Silk Fox is DEFINATELY a woman, lol), and it didn't make a ripple, because the sex is implied, and not seen.

Geoff was getting so upset, and rightfully so. Fox News certainly dropped the ball on that one, but it was good for lulz.

Ignorance is bliss.. there must be so many blissful people out there...
This whole games in the media started in the 80's when the NES first came out.
And more than 20 years later the same people are still saying the same thing.
Idiots.

I don't mind seeing videogames in the news but when they're being blamed for everything bad in the world then I cringe.

Can I please clarify that those were not my words, they were from the report, taken out of context so that I can exaggerate the stupidity of the content.

If I see a video game segment on the news, I just laugh at it and shake my head. 95% of the time it's just bashing it for being too violent or too sexual. And even worse, my parents always buy into that crap and either ask me questions about that particular game or make some dumb comment.

"Do you play that game?" "Why would someone make such a violent game?" "We don't need kids playing those kind of games."

I actually hate having ANY conversation about video games with my parents. Last week, there was a news segment about Shigeru Miyamoto, and I'm literally getting interviewed by my mom about what Nintendo is, what Sony's consoles are, and a bunch of other crap.

I don't really care. My dad is the reason I play video games anyways, so my parents don't even pay attention. I get irritated when I hear a game I like getting bashed, but thats about it.

Whenever I see that happening, I play a little game. I get a beer and take a drink every time someone says 'Columbine' or 'Jack Thompson'. I'm usually wasted in the first 5 minutes.
It takes you 5 minutes? You need to start watching anything with jack thompson and I can promise that you will be on the floor in a minute flat.

EDIT: I missed that you said jack thompson in your post.

Always, because every video game report I see is either negative towards it in regards to violence, or making fun of gamers who stand in line for days to get a new game or console. Maybe I have bad luck. I dont recall any positive reports.

I forgot. I saw an article in the Times about games that didn't make me cringe. In fact, I actually thought it was cool. Apparently, a lot of bars and clubs in New York are switching Karaoke for Guitar Hero.
