I just find it funny when games are on the news, i find it funny watching peole who don't play them looking at it like it's the anti-christ, although my face goes cringe-tastic when ever i see an advert for a video game being made into a film.

I cringe, because I know I'm about to hear a giant load of fear-mongering BS spewed out everywhere by uninformed journalists just trying to boost for ratings. Everyone pointed out the Mass Effect BS, but has anyone seen the ones on the PSP and DS? I can't remember if they were on Fox, CNN, or somewhere else, and I can't find the videos, but some journalists used both for some major BS.

For the PSP, they labeled it the "PornStation Portable" and ranted about how your teenagers are most certainly using it to download and watch hardcore, nasty pornography. For the DS, they talked about how child rapists are using the DS to find your poor, innocent daughters and do all sorts of perverted things to them. The basic messages they were pushing were this:

"If your son has a PSP, then he IS using it to watch porn. In fact, go check on him right now! I bet he is using that dirty, sinful game device to watch all sorts of nasty stuff!"

"If your daughter has a DS, then she WILL be kidnapped and raped by evil child rapists. The Nintendo DS is basically a radar that can lead sexual predators to your children!"

I also remember one about online games and saying that your children WILL become extremely addicted to them and start STEALING MONEY to keep playing.

What was annoying to me was that they were presenting this stuff as absolute fact, like it was 100% guaranteed to happen if you buy your kids a PSP/DS or let them play online games. It was like all the "violent games cause violence" debates. They wouldn't accept anything that contradicts their "facts," and were claiming that these terrible, nasty things will happen if your children play games.

1. Games are not all for kids. That big black M has a deeper meaning to it (note: will actually play certain M games with my younger brother...after I have decided if they have anything that would ruin his psyche at all)
The rated M games are not anywhere near as bad as anyone says they are. It's a bunch of bullshit Hell I don't think there's been a single game deserving of an Over a T rating except manhunt. If you disagree, think back to when you were 7, could you of handled DBZ budokai (if you've never seen the game just watch the footage of a single fight)? When you were 13, could you of handled Halo? When you were 17 (although there shouldn't FUCKING be a FUCKING 17 FUCKING age rating since it's 1 FUCKING year between the next FUCKING rating...............FUCKING) could you of handled GTA san andreas. Everything should go down a notch. AOs should go down to M(M shouldn't exist in the first place since they're 1 year apart), M's to T's, and T's to E's. My teachers are worse than T rated videogames for christ sakes!
The only medium that is 100% correct on how ratings should go is fanfiction, thank you fanfiction.net. Nothing gets an M except erotica, and hardcore DESCRIPTIVE erotica.

So really the ratings system should be changed.
