Wow, I didn't realize people actually called it "dipping"... I thought that was just anti-tobacco jargon. We call it "chewing" around here. Whatever you call it, I find it disgusting, myself. I feel bad for all the wives who accidentally took a swig from their husband's "spit can".

Did you know that they put glass in dip to cut your gums? They do that because it makes the nicotine get in your system faster. A little fun fact to think about next time you're dipping.
That's an urban legend (a wildly popular one). Smokeless tobacco doesn't use fiberglass. It really doesn't need to -- the nicotine gets absorbed just fine w/o it.
Not really, they may not do it anymore, but i know for a fact that they used to put glass, or fiberglass, or almost anything that would cause micro-bleeds in the mouth to increase nicotine absorbtion. I also know that, once again my knowledge is a little out of date, it was once made out of the tobacco cuttings that ended up on the floor, and had many, unsavory things in it(including rodents).
As for absorbs fine without it, look what tehy put in cigarettes. Just smoking tobacco puts nicotine in your system, but not enough to addict u on your first cig. So they add, i stress add, over 4000 chemicals into the cigarretes, mostly with the intent of increasing nicotine absorbtion. Two of these chemicals, my favorites, are Urea(or however you say it, a chemical found in urin) and coco(I admit i cant spell, like hot-coco). They claimed the coco was for flavor for almost 30 years, but now they admit that they add it because when it's burned, it acts as a bronchial diolator. Meaning it makes the tubes in your lungs expand to allow more air (read: smoke) in, increasing the amount of nicotine that enters your bloodstream.
So, sorry if i dont believe that just putting tabacco in your mouth allows enough nicotine to enter your bloodstream for them. I won't put anything past these greedy f-ers.
