Almost definitely too much. Had to better regulate my use of it after a couple of particularly worrying experiences, and I wasn't too concerned when I was found on my back, throwing up into my hair, rather I found it funny to recall (I don't find it funny now). £50 poorer, trying to flush out a couple of litres of cheap, hard liqueur, in agony the morning after. Wouldn't recommend drinking like that, ever, but even after all this, I feel there is still a healthy relationship, for me, to have with drink.
Whiskey and beer are drinks I have by and large only good things to say about. Not a lot in life brings me as much contentment as a glass of scotch older than I am, a comfortable chair, and a few hours of Chicago blues. (In the market for a friend who appreciates the untempered visceral mastery of the blues =))
I can wax lyrical about real ale, ad nauseam. So I won't. But seriously, if you drink ale and cider, don't just get the same huge international brewery name every damn time. Try one of those taps that seem invisible to everyone else, that you've never seen anywhere else. If you're from the UK, look out for the CAMRA seal. It stands for integrity in craftsmanship.
But I've definitely seen over the top, and began to descend the other side. Don't drink to excess frequently boys and girls; always keep it below a bottle of liqueur in a night. Don't drink to mitigate a night of drinking. 48 hours between your last drink and your next is recommended, strongly. Stay away from "party drinks" largely. Shooting tequila is an experience, but it's not what to base a night of drinking around. Alcohol can be as poisonous indirectly, as it can be directly. Just Google "Delirium Tremens", if you aren't familiar with the term, and need some convincing.
What a mixed message. Hopefully I haven't put anyone off alcohol completely, I can't stress enough how a healthy relationship with it, can be very enjoyable. Not a lot compliments a high quality matured rib-eye steak as a heady full bodied glass of fine red wine. Not much can relax you with as much simplicity as a pint of real bitter, with good friends, and no pressing obligations. Few things will put a more stupid a grin on your face as a bottle of cider at a picnic on a pleasant summer afternoon. An approach of respect for what ethanol is, a poisonous byproduct, you can enjoy a myriad of positive experiences with the beverages, and dishes, that contain it.
