I personally love both my music and my games but yet I can't quite have them both going at the same time. Just thinking as to what the majority do, most of my friends play with music on and I just had a little discussion with them. Let me know.

Most of the time I'll play music, especially if it's a mindless FPS or sports game or multiplayer. The only time I won't is in the case of MGO (need to hear those footsteps in TSNE) and any game that I'm paying attention to the story of.

It depends on the game. If it's a racing game, I'll put on music to relieve the boredom of "ERRRR, ERRRRR, ERRRRRRRRRRRR, SCRREECCHHHH, BANG!" and also put it on when doing boss fights and anything from the FPS genre.

But say for a game like MGS or Final Fantasy I don't bother. It distracts from the experience of the game, I find.

It depends on the game. Generally if I'm playing a more casual game on the pc or handheld I just mute the volume all the way and listen to the TV in the background.

One of my favorite gaming memories is listening to David Bowie while playing Everquest though...

Do you mean leaving game music on or turning the sound off to have my own?

I leave it to the game, and being able to hear people helps a lot in CS:S so I never bother with music in that.

cant concentrate with music going on.

When I play my DS I have no sound what so ever, mainly because when I first got it I'd play with my family around (this is GB pocket the habit just stuck) and mario gets pretty annoying after awhile

Every now and then during multiplayer sessions I would put on some Gorillaz or Linkin Park.

I should start doing that again

Depends. If I'm playing a game the first time round, or fpr immersion, no.

If not, yes. Lots.

Nope, never. I prefer to listen to the music/audio that the game intended me to hear.

Best thing Microsoft ever did was give us Custom Soundtracks. The GTA games just hit another level. And Burnout is the tits when burning around to some thrash.

Pity they seem to have made a mess of it for this gen.

I rely on the in-game audio prompts way to much to be able to have music whilst playing. I'd have no idea whether or not I'm winning or standing on the site of an impending airstrike if it wasn't for them.
(So "No music" for me)

I prefer gaming with music.

Like earlier, I was playing the Shire level in Lord of The Rings: Conquest while listening to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pGaz_qN0cw

Sometimes I listen to Nightwish while playing Gears of War, but I like it better without music. It helps me concentrate on the game if I am listing to the in game music and sound effects.

No music for me. I much prefer the in-game music, it always seems to just suit the mood better. However, some games, like PGR3, where the in-game music is just like the music on your hard drive or whatever (generally sports and racing games), then I listen instead to the musicI saved myself onto my hard drive.
