Poll: Do You Hate Captchas?

I generally hate them; there are some that are actually pretty easy to read and thus pass, but on the other hand most sites don't use them because them being easier for us also means they are easier for bots. So instead we get these wavy things with the letters squished together and all kinds of noise in the background make it even harder to read, and some of them don't have a "new image" button for when they are absolutely unreadable, so you have to fail to get a new one and hope you get one you can read before the system locks you out for failing too many of them.

All I can say about these forums is hurray for Pub Club.

What I want to know is if my Pub Club runs out, will I start getting Capchas? Spin said that "Spammers don't pay for accounts," so by that logic, a one-time PubClub member should earn a capcha-free permanent perk.

That's a good idea. Maybe you should drop it in the Pub Club forum and see what the higher ups say about it.

It really depends on the captcha. The one I've noticed on the escapist, I find to be annoying, but I haven't gotten one wrong yet. Now, some of the ones on the other sites I've seen, I've wasted dozens of minutes on, since I can never figure them out *shudders*

I am not a fan of them on this site. Mainly because I have never seen spam here and I am on this site at least twice a week and have been since I joined.

Oh and they never make any sense.

Actually, no they shouldn't. That would ruin the purpose,

That's the point. If the purpose of captchas is defeated. Then there would be no reason for them to be implemented. In theory, that should cause the captcha system to be removed. If they just get more difficult, then a more advanced program could get through those and so on.

Personally, I'd rather have a brick wall of spam threads, than a captcha I have to enter on almost every post.

I hate them, I have to refresh them 234324 times before I can get one I can read.

I can't remember but did we have to do one when we signed up to this site?
Another forum I'm on added captcha to the sign up bit so they didn't have to do it to the forums and spam is gone to zero.

I dislike them greatly. Mostly the ones that DONT MAKE ANY SENSE. For example, i was once given a captcha that was made entirly out of squres and this smiley icon = ☺ luckily i know Alt+1 does the ☺ but the squares?

They're irritating and annoying and half the time I have to refresh the thing because it's given me some unreadable gibberish that I can't possibly be expected to reproduce.

They are fucking annoying. They should only apply to users with less than 100 posts or something. I got one the other day with a "ß" in it, my keyboard doesn't even have that fucking thing. I HAD TO GO ON WIKIPEDIA AND COPY PASTE IT, WIKIPEDIA! ._________.

OT: They are fine, I very rarely see an illegible one and it takes a second or two to type. It's not too bad at all.

I never saw spambots on the escapist so I dont get the idea, I hate them even more on youtube because they are futile
