I don't mind them when seeing the amount of spam that happens on sites without them like IGN(Air Jordans anyone?) I don't mind taking just a few more moments to do a captcha.

I find them annoying, especially the ones with umlats. There's no button on my keyboard for that!

I don't remember encountering a single Spambot in the Escapist since I started haunting this site (and that was long before the Captcha implementation). So it kind of feels... pointless.

In fact, one day, when it took me like 10 refreshes to get a legible one, I got so pissed that I actually pasted a spam ad from anther site at the end of my message (it was funny, really) to get my point across. Funny thing is, I didn't even get a warning.

I don't understand the rage people have towards them.

The Captchas take all of a few seconds to deal with. You can endlessly refresh them if you get ones that you are uncertain about. I had to do one for a post not long ago, I refreshed it six times until I got one I could read, it set me back maybe.. ten seconds?

I don't feel anything towards them. They do not affect me in the slightest. They could make me enter one for every single post for all the difference it would make to me.

If possible, someone should invent a hacking program of some kind that can get through captchas.
Actually, no they shouldn't. That would ruin the purpose,
That's the point. If the purpose of captchas is defeated. Then there would be no reason for them to be implemented. In theory, that should cause the captcha system to be removed. If they just get more difficult, then a more advanced program could get through those and so on.

Personally, I'd rather have a brick wall of spam threads, than a captcha I have to enter on almost every post.
I have to enter it on every fifth post or so, and I can dish out for Pub Club if I hate them that much.

I'd much rather have a captcha then spam.

Some are annoying but i can live with them especially when commenting as a guest but when signed into a valid account it bothers me (like now) because Escapist can and will suspend or cancel my account if i do spam so i dont see why we need them here.

But like i said they are only a slight annoyance especially if i get them wrong (some sites make me lose my entire comment) but i can live with them for the greater good *yelling behind me* "THE GREATER GOOD"

I'm fine with them, just not when they're so darn complicated.
Keep the words short, easy enough to see, and stick only with letters and numbers!

I offered a suggestion in the "feedback". "Captchas should only be used for a small amount of post counts. (Like say 100-300 posts)". Sure, it may irritate the newer members, but I doubt that the spambot will reach that number of posts.

Captchas aren't very bad for me, if they're not difficult. I've seen too many poorly-done captchas, though, that are impossible to spell AND refresh the page if you get it wrong. Many times, I've gotten one letter in the captcha wrong and had to write nearly 1000 characters all over again!

If anyone cares, I had to type 'Theory thendeo' to post this.

They're annoying. I don't like having to spend extra time typing some pseudo-verbal nonsense into a box every few posts, though I suppose if they keep spambots away, then they're a bit of a necessary evil. Plus, it's always funny when I get a captcha like this one.
