I've been in a few clans (Mostly for Call of Duty 2 & 4) but we were always laid back and never stacked either on our server or others. Only took it serious in scrims when it was filled with people who wanted to play seriously, for public games it was always a laugh.

Most elitist clans stick to private servers anyway so they really aren't a problem.

I don't understand why you can just scribble in something on your clan tag instead of it being deeper obviously most people are just going to make a symbol or write some kind of acronym rather than an actual clan name, and I never liked how much work it takes to keep them up and all the pricks who join but never take anything seriously and just all of a sudden leave after years of being a member for no other reason but for being bored.

I hate online clans because they are useless. But LAN clans who actually know how to play and make money while doing something they like (like yours truly) - I only hate the competition.

I hate like a whole team is a clan and they think they're all that. Like yesterday my friends and I are playing HQ on MW2. The other team was one player short of a full clan team! They were such d-bags! They had no skill what so ever and all they did was camp! We started to loose but in the last five minutes we pull a head. THEN EVERYONE LAGS OUT! The clan were such pansies just leaving like that knowing we were better!

I was in one.

I dislike the whole "1v1 makes you better" thing.(Like, fighting someone one on one made you better than that person)

So I left. It just bothered me that they cared who was better.

Now I still play with the guys in the clan, and help them out in "Clan Battles" but I no longer affiliate with them.

What's wrong with the principle of clans? Playing together with mates is a lot more fun eh? Nobody seriously plays football free-for-all or random teams either. Playing a clanwar and beating another team through good teamplay is fun.

It's annoying when they join as a whole team against you, then brag about how good they are and don't shut up.
Makes beating them all the sweeter.
This. Especially when it's in games like CounterStrike, where they use their voicecomm to give away the locations of other players.

There's a lot of idiots online though, K/D ratio seems to be something everyone rambles on about these days; means nothing.

Live and let live.

My buddies have a clan, they just have a laugh and never act all pro.

Cland are like people, mostly fine with the odd annoying one.

This, clans arn't the problem, it's the attitudes of the members that becomes the problem. The knock on effect it has to a game when a clan all joins 1 team for example =P

Only thing I hate b about them is the fact of commitment. Having to pay for server etc. That and all of the whiny 11 or 12 year olds on it. DAMN THEY ANNOY ME

I'm in a clan, it's a kind of clan anyway, it used to be an AoC guild, then it used to be a WAR guild. We still play random stuff together, and hang about on ventrilo. None of us are much good in any game, except Killing Floor.

It's a lot more fun playing with people you know, and can atleast somewhat rely on, and our "clan" is mainly just that.

The clans that constantly brag and just generally grief are annoying but I don't have anything against the ones who just play normally.
I do get a sense of achievment when I decimate the giefing type of clan though =D
I dominated clans on the ps3 version of tf2, their response? Invite me to join them, my response? SLAUGHTER THEM ALL!

I've never been in a clan on a console FPS but when I played Counterstrike and Unreal Tournament on my PC I was in a few clans. It was good for getting games and learning new stuff, especially if you had your own server to practice on.

We were always semi-serious but never took the game more seriously than having a good time. We occasionally came up against the douchebag clans who just greif whenever they lose as we were "hacking n00bz" or they talked "tactics" which was always funny to overhear.

My clan name(and tag) is
IRA

and you should see my MW2 title and callsign.

I first started the IRA clan back in the late 90s on the PC.One game in particular I can recall is Delta Force BHD.

been doing it ever since.

and if you don't know who or what the IRA is..then go read a book.

...Only 'clans' seen in CoD4 and onward do i hate (on console)
1/2 because they aren't actual clans, relative to ones on games like BF2.
those often run great servers, like FART mashaturr or something, that one's a good'un.

Me and my friends made a clan just because so I can't really say I hate them. Plus we don't really recruite actively because as I've said it's just for friends. We do stack on team games though but that's just because we like playing on the same team.

Clan play on consoles? Really? I can see how that kind of defeats the purpose....There's no real point of having being in a clan unless you plan on having wars, and probably entering tournements...

I was in a call of duty (and a Cod 2) clan back when I was in highschool. We had a lot of fun, though we didn't really bother with 'tags' so much unless we were actually playing competively. They can be good fun, but yeah, on a console it's kinda retarded...I don't see how you can possibly have competetive play when one player is in a lag free environment...
