Poll: Do you leave your toilet lid open?

My mom saw some 60 minutes special about how closing the seat before you flush prevents bacteria from splashing all over you or something (I really don't give a fuck whether it is true or not, so please don't try and tell me I'm wrong or something), and I was drilled into doing so as a child.
Now I close it before I flush and leave it closed when I leave the bathroom, out of pure habit.

I live alone (so lonely in my university flat... ladies I kid i kid) so I have no reason not to leave it open. I keep it clean and so on so it's not unclean in anyway to do so.
I will admit tho my room is not so, as my 2 days of work have left me with little time to tidy away plates and such XD

No. Even if I lived alone I would keep the lid and seat down. Something just seems dirty about leaving the lid up to me. I hardly ever lift the seat to be honest...I'm a lazy, lazy guy.

The question is worded poorly.

I leave the seat down always, and the lid up always.

My roommate puts the lid down after he shits, which is disgusting because it traps the smell in the toilet and makes me think about what just happened.

Always close it, do not want to see mine or anyone elses business floating around... Also, for people leaving the seat open after peeing standing: It's not cause we are too lazy to close it ourselves. It's cause we do not want to see the lovely splashes you leave on the rim...

Nope! Bacteria and all that, and living with 3 women gets me complaints when I don't. So I complain when THEY don't put the lid down. Which they don't always do. Muahahahaha!

I leave it up at home, but when I'm round other peoples houses, I put it down.

Out of courtesy I guess.

I always close the lid. It was sort of beaten into me back at home and it's a habit that has always stuck with me.

Not a bad habit to have though. Keeps the people who care about it happy and doesn't bother the people who couldn't care less. ^_^

leave it up, don't care to have to lift it every damn time i go to the bathroom so just leave it up

plus gleaming at my business after workin hard to put it there is always a tradition after using the restroom.

Lid goes down; it's disgusting the other ways. I've had people ask me to leave the lid up ( with seat down), which confuses me- why would people rather look at the toilet partially open? Surely it looks neater closed.

The men in my house outnumber the women 2-1 so by majority vote the toilet seat stays up ^_^
