In general, no. But someone linked that accursed Skrillex song, "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites", and I found it going through my head when I woke up the next day.

and two weeks after that.

And then I bought it, that earworm will not leave me be!

So yes, I like some dubstep (and I'm sad that my Sennheiser headphones died before I bought that, I bet they'd have added a lot to the sound). I'm still more of a trance person, though.

No. It is just noise. There is nothing musical about putting a shitty bass warble over songs and butchering them for everyone. The genre needs to die in a hole so we can get back to real music.

It's hardly life-affirming, spiritual music with poetry, metaphor and meaning, but it's good, mindless fun.

Now pardon me while I-WUBWUBwubWUBWUBwubWUBWUBwubWUBWUBwubWUBWUBwubWUBWUBwub...

No. Absolutely not. It's just noise, nothing more. It could be worse though, it really could.

It sounds like something I might enjoy as a soundtrack of a game (preferably one with shooting aliens in a scifi-environment), but nothing I would listen on it's own.

Very fitting thread considering that I just played a dubstep song.

This one to be precise.

No. I can understand the appeal (kindof), but it's not for me. In fact, most of it hurts my ears. But this one time I heard one wih some nice saxophone whenever it wasn't going "wubwubwub", but other than that it was pretty bad.

Some, not all. There are some really nice, different sounds out there so it's a genre I'm keeping a close eye on.

I do. There is good dubstep out there. But it's like fan fiction, there's a lot of shit as well, and unfortunately to have to sift through the shit to find the good stuff.

Surprisingly accurate description.

Two of my friends are really into it, but I've tried it and I honestly can't stand it. Electronic music holds no emotional weight for me, and frequently gets obnoxious.

No, my friends listen to it. They tried to make me listen to it, and i responded, "oh, so electronic music with more bass?" and I was instantly corrected that "Its dubstep and you just wouldn't get it." No I think i get it better than you do, it's just redubs of theme songs and stuff and I'm unimpressed! No offense to anyone that likes it btw.
You really don't, though. That's like saying that death metal is just metal with more distortion.

&nbsp&nbspI liked the genre a few years back when Benga, Rusko, Caspa and Skream were doing their thing. That said, I liked grime, which if you follow electronic music of sorts you should see the clear progression. Terror Danjah's song Code Morse should give a very nice example of this.
(This version is slightly sped up from his CD release)
&nbsp

&nbsp&nbspNow though, it seams like the genre revolves solely around "the drop" and making it sound as hardcore as possible, by this I mean shoving as many drops, samples and wobbles into a short amount of time. I know I am going out on a limb with this but, I very much dislike Skrillex and what he represents in dubstep. Scary monsters and Nice Sprites is a perfect example.
&nbsp

&nbsp&nbspThis is my kind of dubstep. Something you can just sit back and soak up the body-warping vibrations with while closing your eyes and drifting off with your imagination.

Here you go, it's a huge change in pace from this topic, but this song will put you in a trance =P
&nbsp&nbspI like the way you relate things, I feel these two kinds of music relate well.

Thanks for reading if you did. I hope I have shown some people new avenues to walk down.

Nope, I gave it a few listens and decided I would like to to fade away from music history forever.
This one.
It's the type of "music" one would listen to if one was doing an incredibly repetitive and menial task. It's boring and samey. I'll listen to real music, thanks.

I like a couple songs, mainly Nero and some Skrillex. Also this:

Dammit, I got ninja'd on that remix!

But yes, I do quite enjoy dubstep every now and then.

Quite an excellent description, I think.

Very unpleasant to the ear. It feels more like noise for noise's sake and less like anything artistic.

Not at all. WUBWUBWUBs REALLY make me not want to listen to music.

I do, however, enjoy one of the genres that was formed FROM Dubstep, which is glitchstep/hop. The lack of WUBs makes it INFINITELY more enjoyable.

Here's a sample. Enjoy it.

You know, that wasn't bad.

Great mixers that make Dubstep standout are good. Everything else about it is gutter trash because EVERYBODY started jumping on it, "Wub Wub Wub" doesn't go with everything people.

Some of it, yes.

The jittery drums and ambience are what makes the genre interesting to me, but everyone just focused on the wobbly bass when it went mainstream. Even then, I guess it's kind of enjoyable. At least it isn't house.
