She is a guilty pleasure. Even though I like Alternative/Gothic/Heavy Rock, and that is where I consider my musical roots to lie, she is quite an excellent artist.

I hate 90% of her shit. She actually has a couple of songs i can listen to, but i don't really enjoy them and given the choice, i would listen to almost anything else. as a side note, poker face made me want to punch babies when i heard it.
Madonna is getting too old, so the industry pulls out another "creative" and "unique" puppet for the cash-printer.
Her voice is not bad, but that's it.
I don't buy this artsy-fartsy stuff, not even from REAL artists.
It's a creative craft, anything else is ego and marketing...
And as long as the industry makes enough money there will always be a Madonna/Lady Gaga/Justin Bieber.
Meaningless and without a soul, but that fits the time and society we live in very well.

Phew, quite a rant I got into, but that's what Lady Gaga is related to in my mind...
I hate the image. I hate the persona. I hate the costumes. I despise the ear-worms. I loathe the amount of publicity she gets in the 20p gutter press.
The woman behind the act is, apaprently, pretty cool.
The act needs to fall off a dam, scrape itself raw on the concrete, break all its limbs at the bottom and be eaten alive by rodents.

I like The Fame Monster, but her first album wasn't great in my opinion.

As pop music goes, she's pretty solid. She can sing, she's entertaining and the music is not bad. A few tracks I actually honestly like and listen to on occasion. As for her being overrated, that can be said about any band/performer who's popular but you personally don't like as much as most people.
She's okay. The music is okay, the costumes are annoying, and the persona is annoying. However, despite being very eccentric, almost to the point of insanity, she is actually pretty intelligent. I remember seeing an interview on Fuse with her and she had some good answers, along with some crazy ones, no doubt.
I don't listen to pop radio stations, so maybe that's why I haven't gotten sick of her music. On principle I don't like anything that gets too popular, Lady Gaga being the queen of stupidly popular musicians... but after hearing a couple of amazing songs I realized she was the author, and then I discovered that she's actually a brilliant woman. I was in shock.
Then I realized what she is; she's the 2010 Madonna. They're both brilliant musicians who dropped more respectable and less well-paying music jobs to wear crazy costumes and write super-addicting ear worm songs and become richer than many small countries. Intelligent people are more likely to act out and do weird things, if only to keep their overly active minds entertained at all hours of the day. I think she's great, musically and personality-wise. Friends who listen to her have said her songs are deep and are not repetitive (I looked up the lyrics and laughed at that notion) and that she is very intelligent because using weird quirks makes her a better artist (don't ask I don't even know what that meant)
The only thing I'll give her is that she is a good pianist - stick to that, stop trying to be a powerful singer (listen to her live performances where she tries to force her voice to sound powerful) and don't dress like you just rolled through your wardrobe and said "this'll do"

I want to first point out she does seem to try to be edgy for the sake of it, she is closer to a rock star than popstar in alot of respects by this I mean theirs alot about her and the cult of gaga rather than the music. How she dresses etc before the tunes.
That being said, she is a very good artist. I'm normally not so big into that vain of music but I find myself getting her songs stuck in my head and singing along to them. They are very catchy and her songs deserve the credit they get. She writes them herself I believe, which is very good when you consider alot of artists no longer bother.

Some of her songs are listenable, I guess. But she pisses me off because she's insane for no good reason, and not the good type of insane either! "She's artistic! She's a genius!" No. She's fucking weird for the sake of it. And she looks stupid.
