I've noticed that somehow, there's a lot of stick in the gaming community for micspammers and screaming treble-voiced children. I for one love them. When I'm trying to have fun playing a game online (99% of the time, rather than being serious,) someone who's hilariously micspamming just makes playing so much more enjoyable. This is especially true with HLDJ on source games, like TF2, CS, and Gmod.

So, what's the escapist's take? If you hate micspamming, why so? What's your limit?

I always find myself playing into it. I love getting those clowns riled up, usually if they wind up on the other team, they get too pissed to play well.

It walks a VERY fine line between funny and outright annoying.

Some things are stupid.

One time someone played the JAWS theme over mic spam in Team Fortress 2. At the climax of the song, someone was backstabbed. It was the mic spammer playing spy. I cried laughing.

There are other good ones too. Such as winning a game, and playing the price is right theme.

Sure, as long as they're being somewhat entertaining. What I don't like are the assholes that have crappy music blasting through their headset. Unless of course it's Deadmau5, which made a game of Black Ops a whole lot more entertaining.

No, because I can't hit them. If I'm gonna have someone screeching in my ear, I need the ability to reach over and slap them when I've reached my limit, and the mic just doesn't let me do that.

If people are cracking jokes, than it's fine. But XBL is full of racist 12 year olds, that's why i don't use it anymore (that and the paying thing).

I never get funny people like this mic spamming. That was hilarious. Sadly, I just get people blasting bad music or random obscenities.

I usually don't like it, but in TF2 party servers, I love having some dude micspamming weird remixes of Internet memes.

fake edit: I am serious. I don't know how to say "I love Internet meme micspam" without sounding really sarcastic.

When I pay close to a thousand dollars (out of my own pocket) for a game system, game, tv, supporting electronics, internet and electric bills, modem, and router, I expect a great gaming experience that isnt filled with inane chatter or kids singing the latest pop song.

I know about the mute button. 99/100 times I mute an entire lobby (save for games like l4d, where comunicating is essential) as soon as I get into it.

Only if it's humorous and i can have a laugh. I don't want some 12 year old who hasn't hit puberty singing Rusty Beaver at the top of his lungs or some rich suburbanite spouting slang like he thinks he's tough.

Sometimes it can be really funny. Once someone kept spamming clips from the "Meet the Demoman" video and that was great, but we were on a surf server so no one was playing seriously. But if you're in an actual game and someone constantly talks on their mic, that can get annoying really fast.

Im a micspammer...the kind that plays Deadmau5, Daft Punk, Bloody Beetroots, and other Elctro, dub-step, and DnB songs. But only on Mic-Spam approved surf servers or VS Saxon Hale mode.

I generally agree as far as screaming is concerned. But really high pitched voices actually cause me pain when they start screaming, and that needs to be addressed. Also, some days I just don't feel like it and mute anyone who says something that isn't related to the game.

If it's funny, it's funny, if it's not, I mute them.

I don't hate the annoying ones because I don't listen to them long enough to let it bother me.

So I don't mind them.

I had one of those Ventrillo hackers jump onto my guilds server during a raid and started playing intro clips from old cartoons like Captain Planet and Powerpuff Girls. Half of us including myself had an epic nostalgia moment. However, the other, much older half who just didn't get it raged... hard. I feel like it was a win-win scenario for me.

I mic-troll, but I've never spammed. Sometimes, sending CS:S players into a blinding rage is just another part of the game for me.

I don't mind annoying mic-chatter unless some idiot is trying to blast music from his speakers through his microphone. That REALLY gets annoying.

I love it.

Because I am a micspammer that isn't a prick. i.e badass music and Duke Nukem quotes are awesome.
