Poll: Do you like to suit up?

I hate suits... They're so uncomfortable. I prefer my worn-in jeans, a t-shirt, and a zip-up hoodie.

I would rather be 100% comfortable than look good.

I'm torn between this and the awesomeness of a good suit. While you look fantastic, and feel fantastic (confident-wise)...its simply more comfortable to wear "trashy" clothes.

I dont suit up much, so its just that much sweeter when I do I guess.

A properly tailored suit will fit correctly, comfortably, and look smokin' hot. There is a down side, naturally; a properly tailored suit will not be cheap, in all likelihood, but if you're not prone to sudden changes in weight or frame, you're unlikely to need a new one for quite a while.

I've often found that being the owner of a half domesticated beard doesn't really work well with a suit, but I do like to wear them. As I'm going bald I keep thinking about shaving my head completely and ditching the beard, so I'd look like agent 47 after he's gained a hundred pounds.

Screw shaving your beard!

I've been shaving my head for 10 years, and I'm still rocking the same 'stache and goat combo', whether I'm wearing a suit or my Carhartts' and garrison boots. It's possible to have facial hair and still be a 'sharp-dressed man'.

Sorry about the late reply, popped off to play a few rounds of TF2 (and finally got that damn Saxton Hale mask).

I have never been to a Fringe event or even Edinburgh Castle, but I've no idea why. I guess it's one of those things you mean to do, but keep putting off because it will be there later. I like some of the street performers that hang around during the Fringe, but mostly I just get a little annoyed with all the extra people.

Despite liking your hat and frequenting Steampunk forums, I don't actually like wearing hats or that style of dress on myself. It's interesting and I've spent a lot of time reading into it but my interest really dies when it comes to getting a suit of my own. I'd buy a pocketwatch though, clockwork is godly.

Also, please tell me that you had some sunglasses at the time that you took the picture of your friend with the hat? That would add to the already awesome image in my head.

He had normal glasses and it was dark, if that helps

I'm a real big steampunk fan myself, but I don't cosplay or anything weird like that.

My love of suiting up has translated into my everyday attire. Anytime I have to leave the house I dress in a button-down shirt, khakis and a belt (unless I'm going to be spending time outside). Everyone used to ask me what I'm dressing up for, but eventually they just accepted that's my style.
I still wear jeans and a tee shirt around the house or if I'm going to be doing something outdoors (ie hiking, playing frisbee), I just feel more comfortable confident when I go out if I look dressy.

Could I get away with wearing a suit to my high school full of your everyday teenager fashion, i.e. jeans/shorts and a t-shirt? I already wear button-up shirts as often as possible, which people are starting to understand is everyday for me.

Awwww, yeah... the fedora really does make the outfit. I've got a casual khaki colored one and a black one with a light grey rim and grey fleur de lis shaped stitching on the left side... every time I put one on, my confidence goes through the roof.

There's something about women's suits that just isn't as classy as men's suits.

This. It's just not a style that looks good on ladies with some, ahem... frontage. That's my excuse, anyhow. Having said that, there's other ways for ladies to look smart.

So long as it's all crease-free, it's a good look for semi-formal occasions. Nothing beats a full-on tux though... :O)

Yeah, being overweight, it's damned hard to look good in anything, but damn, it's even harder to find a suit to fit, short of selling the house to get one tailor made.

If I won the lottery however, I'd have a wardrobe full of tailor made suits.
