Pretty straight forward.
When you're at home, if you don't live alone, and your family is also there and you need to go to the bathroom to do your needs, do you lock the door?
Because in our family we don't, we have 2 bathrooms and into the other one you can see if someone's there by the light coming from under the door and if you're sitting and pooping in the other when someone opens the door you just say "I'm here" and they instantly turn around and close the door.
If you lock it, why?
If you don't, why not?
And if you pick the third alternative, why don't you have a door to your bathroom??! O.O

Yeah...habit, I guess.

And of, fear of murderers attacking me at awkward times. Even murderer teleportation doesn't help them against a locked door in front of me.

EDIT: Oh, thought you meant home alone, not just home.

I lock. I could just tell them I'm here and then they'll leave, but why not just cut out the middle man?

I lock the door, yes.
Do to others as you would have them do unto you. Or whatever the correct quote is.
I don't find it particularly pleasant to witness other people defecating or pissing, so I lock the door.

Edit: Oh, you're talking about locking. I was just thinking about shutting the door.
Well, I still lock the door.
The door to our toilet is fairly sound proof, so there's no way to tell if there's anyone in there until you've opened the door.

I don't lock the door unless i'm at someone elses housr . But in my house i don't . When i moved in with my girlfriend she left the door open when she was peeing out of habit ... I quickly got her to change that habit , although every once in a while i'll know shes gone to take a piss and walk in on her for the lols .

i live with 3 small children and though its semi-necessary for potty training, I'm not particularly keen on small children watching me, so yeah, most of the time i lock the door.

Only if someone's on the same floor as me. If not I just let the door stop on the frame, since if they're on the other floor they'll use that toilet.

No. I live with my partner and Child and I need to give child easy access to come to me just in-case, and boyfriend knows when I'm in there or is in work anyway.

No since none of the toliet doors got a lock but I do close the door. Even if it's close there may or may not be someone inside so I usually either way abit or knock the door to see if anyone is inside.

Uh, yeah. I have 5 siblings so it's a necessary thing.

*Door opens*

Younger brother: Oh god! Sorry Zach! I didn't know anyone was in here!

Me: The fucking fan is on. How could you not realize that someone isn't in here?

Brother: *Stupid look on his face*

Me: Close the fucking door.

Brother: Okay. Sorry.

No, unless I have guests over as it seems the polite and unawkward thing to do.

Otherwise, being single, I don't care if the door is even closed, let alone locked.

For a second I thought you were talking about a mechanism that kept the door shut as long as the toilet was in use or something. Being tired is fun. :p

But anyway, no. We tell if anyone is in there by whether the light is on, since the door is misaligned enough that locking it is a pain in the arse and it's easier to see the light being on.

Nope. Because everybody whom I live with knows, if the door is closed, you knock, lest ye wish to risk dying of suffocation or becoming blind.

Yes. Although most knock, there are still the few times people forget, so it's best to be safe rather than looking embarrasing.
