So I was playing Torchlight today. I'm playing as a Vanquisher on Easy and my god is it easy. Never has holding down M2 and wiggling the mouse a bit been so destructive.
But, I'm having a ball.

I'm not the biggest gaming pussy in the world (I've done all Halos on Legendary, Bioshock on Hard and a few levels on veteran on COD 4, e.t.c.) but I really enjoy feeling like the nuke every so often.

So, do you need to be challenged by games or can you sit back and breeze through.

EDIT: I don't mean storyline challenged because that's a natural yes for me (note the inherent contradiction with playing Torchlight where the story is as wafer thin as my character's bikini)

Yes. I haven't played a game that was relatively hard since the first Contra, and that was when I was 7.

Sometimes I just love it when I'm an omnipotent being cutting through my enemies.

I always hated the fact that Oblivion would level enemies with me, so wherever I went I didn't feel like I was making progress.

Then again, some games are always fun with more challenge to them.

Easy mode was Easy?
My lord, such an earth shattering discovery should be reported at once.

I enjoy being challenged, it can get dull when two punches can rip through Dwarven steel, but not challenged to the point where the remote is about to smash through the television.

Yes. I like being challenged it keeps me motivated.

It is the reason I imported Demon's Souls, games are far to easy these days and I needed something to knock the stuffing out of me.

I like challenge. I don't like cheap ass bullshit or games based enitrely on memory rather than any relevant skill.

Most games don't know the difference.

It really depends on the mood I'm in. Normally, I enjoy a good challenge, but some days, I just want to sit back and destroy everything with a flick of my hand.

Case in point, Grand Theft Auto. When I'm in the mood for a challenge, I play fair; No cheats, no unnecessary risks, play sensibly. GTA isn't the most difficult game out there, sure, but it can prove to be fairly challenging if you're not careful.
On other days, though, I just give myself infinite weapons, ammo and body armor and just go nuts in the middle of town. It's fun being able to just stand there while SWAT officers waste their ammo trying to take you down.

I die a lot in games. Almost every game is a challenge. I think I'd get bored of a game that I could just breeze through as it would have to be physically impossible for the character to die if I was to not die once.

I mostly play games at normal difficulty, I'll sometimes make things harder for myself to give me a challenge, but if that happens too much at once then I will kick back sometimes and play a game on easy.

I usually play on easy, although I may make the big step to NORMAL!

I like a challenge, but not the impossibly hard Contra-style challenge.

I play Devil May Cry on Normal. I play as relegation-threatened sides on Football Manager.

But if I'm really stuck, I follow my age-old habit and reach for GameFAQs.

I do like a challenge, however, I also want to be able to finish the game and have fun. Have the occasional death, but be able to pass through a hard bit if I use the right technique.
