I want to know how many people out there REALLY play games for fun. No, playing halo and getting one kill before hiding under the ramp in the pit or any kind of griefing does not count as playing for fun because it isnt fun for the other team.

I remember playing with my buddies in the clan IFR against a clan called CA$H in CoD4 team tactical (on the 360).

Before we started the game we were already talking smack and planning strategies, and it seemed normal. Then, the game ended and they said we sucked and so on. still normal. Then, things got wierd. The other team started keeping between game score of who won and lost each match. That was when things got really fun for me because these guys got less mad and more like "grr, we'll get you next time IFR!!!" by the time we were finished we had played 13 straight games together and the guys became less of random xbox live jerks and more like people we were getting to know.

Final Score: IFR: 9 games CA$H: 4

After those games one of the CA$H guys left, and although I barely knew them and whatever, I didn't want to see them leave because we exchanged states (they were from NY and we are from CA and we each wanted to see each others state some day, small world, I guess) and I learned one guy's name. In the end we all teamed up (the guy who left came back) and played a 6-V-6 game of sabotage against random people and we lost TERRIBLY. It was still fun because I was with friends, and even more so as the night went on. We won, we lost, we came, we saw, we conquered, we WERE conquered. And best of all I made some new friends.

This is the kind of stuff I live for, and Im sad that I dont see it too often anymore. "Friendly" gaming is a dying breed, And by that I don't mean casual gaming, I mean games in which no rockets are whored, no swords are present, martyrdom is unequipped and juggernaut is gathering dust in the corner. Playing games like that or even just a really tense and stealthy match of FFA in CoD4 (you know, where its TOO quiet and no one talks; Where everyone has a silenced gun and there are no p90s or martyrdom people, and even the snipers and airstikes are quiet, so when you die you nearly crap your pants, thats always a fun match because it means that the game lasts longer, kills are more memorable, and believe it or not people actually add me as a friend because of my laid back attitude when I win.

What I really want to know is if ANYONE else play games like I do, if theres a place I can go with servers for gamers like me, or if anyone else out there wont call me racial or religious slurs when I start a friendly chat about my beliefs or hobbies outside of gaming. This whole forum setup seems really friendly and full of people willing to speak logically. I want to hear your thoughts about gaming.

I think we're talking about general terms. Attempting to enjoy yourself, or attempting to get a high kill count on the end score sheet by grenade spamming? Those kind of black-and-white guidelines.

I play for fun generally, but I play for glory when the other team were being less than decent in the pre-game lobby.

I dont mean to "define" what you call fun because while that may be fun for lots of people, I can't bring myself to be cruel and start griefing people. what I meant to do with this thread is to see what interesting stories people have about online gaming where you made friends with a person on your team, another team, or when a whole game lobby teams up to silence a mouthy person. I simply mean a time when you had loads of fun without trying to get the high score. Griefing may be fun but in my experience when people do that they do it to boost thier kill count or up thier K/D spread by hiding or glitching, which falls under the category of "glory"
