So I was wondering how many of my fellow escapist members battle competitively with virtual imaginary creatures? And this can mean online (through the current Wi-Fi system) or just going to tournaments back in the day. And if so, would you care to share your team and maybe a little insight on how you used your team?

On the emulators like Shoddy Battle that make it so that you don't have to actually raise them?

YES.

In the games themselves?

NO.

No. But was it really necessary to come in here and say that?

Also, not in games, I like shoddy battle.

Nope, I only play the older Pokémon games, as I don't have a DS. The oldies are still some of my favorite games though, for the nostalgia they provide.

Nice rhyming poll, by the way.

No. I have an extensive knowledge of all mechanisms and god movesets and such but playing competetively drains the fun way too quickly for me. I do EV training just to make my Pokes the best possible but honestly the way competitive battling goes just annoys me.

Thanks! That was what I was shooting for. Glad someone noticed.
At first I thought it was a coincidence, but after reading the fourth option, I realized that you actually put work into making it rhyme. Nicely done, I'd say; I'm tired of boring polls with their "witty" last options just being something completely random and stupid, so it's nice to see someone put some effort into making their poll actually funny and original.

I've run a couple of tournaments at anime conventions using Pokemon Battle Revolution. I really should consider doing more because they tend to be quite popular, but I can't afford to go to many...

I've never played Pokemon so I feel alone and unloved in this large oval of Pokemon fanboyism.

Why? Whats the point? THere are so many way to just pop up with an overpowered team, "competition" is meaningless.

IMHO pokemon is too static a game to be interesting in competitions, little strategies, no flexibility, and way too much blind luck involved.

I've given it some thought, but I find that all the necessary work that needs to be put into it (EV training, a perfectly balanced team, item strategies) kind of sucks the fun out of the game. I don't begrudge players who play competitively, but for me, beating the Elite Four is enough.

Not really, because it's essentially the same as battling the NPCs in game except your friends and other real people yell at you when you know which attacks can one-hit kill their level 80 Dragonair--

... not really.

What is that? I'm not familiar.
You get to play pokemon...over the internet. Without the games or training. And I believe that it's legal. On your PC.

I actually was making the poll and it is kind of like an inside joke between a friend and me to say "yay" or "nay" instead of "yes" and "no" so I put that up instead of "yes" and "no". And then I put "back in the day" because I say that regularly, and then I realized that they rhymed. So I started laughing to myself and I knew I had to make the last one rhyme. So yeah, it kind of was a coincidence at first, but then I got a kick out of myself, too. Hahaha.

But I know what you mean. "I poop when I hear cows moo" is not a productive poll option as it doesn't help display accurate results, and it is just random. It isn't crazy funny (although I usually do enjoy a good poop joke) and again, isn't helpful for the actual purpose of the poll.

Shit, why didn't I know about this before? That's badass. I'll have to look into that.
