(Searched. Found one about how people shave but none giving any representation of how many actually do this)

So, Escapists, do you shave against the grain? I occasionally do this if I'm in the mood for having a smooth face. Shaving normally just doesn't cut it sometimes. Excuse the pun.

Also does shaving against the grain hold more risks? I haven't cut myself shaving against the grain yet, have you?

EDIT: Apologies for a no shave option. Simply answer no.

I use an electric, so it's moot. I hear against the grain causes ingrown hairs though.

I do every day, if I don't it feels like I didn't shave right. I haven't cut myself doing it since i started using an electric razor.

Woah ingrown you say? That sounds painful. Even at the mere thought of hairs growing into my face I want to never do it again.

Only if I want a really close shave, because I tend to cut myself up a lot more if I'm not a lot more careful, mostly because I'm on a medication that dries out the skin and causes it to cut really easily (which will be a ***** for the next few months).

Speaking of which I really need a shave now. I'll have to tonight.

They're only painful when they get infected or you pick/squeeze them out. If you catch them early, it's not a big deal. I know people say never pluck, but if I have one growing in, I usually mildly abrase the skin and then pull the offending hair out with tweezers. Otherwise it will probably just keep growing in the same direction that cause ingrown in the first place.

Yes I do. At first you will get ingrown hairs (which is just when the follicle get irritated and inflamed) but after a while your face gets used to it and you have a nice smooth shave.

Yes I do when I want my face completely smooth. It just works better that way.

*scritch scratch*

Actually, I think I need to shave tomorrow morning.

I didn't even know you could get ingrowing hairs never mind the fact that they can get infected. How do you know when one is ingrowing? Mind blown. I'm scared of my own hair now.

I shave with the grain, then against the grain to finish. Clean shave baby.

I thought everyone did? It's much smoother afterwards when you go against.

With the grain if I want to look manly.
Although those types of situations don't arise very often.
