when most of us refer to sitting i think it is more that we are leaning to the side or perched at the edge of the seat or a mix never fully seatedJamash said:I didn't even know you could sit and wipe... how do you reach? Surely the back of the toilet, the cistern and the toilet seat would get in the way, or is it easier for smaller people with long, thin arms and greater manual dexterity?
Needless to say I stand to wipe and always have done... however I don't fully stand up, I raise myself off the seat but I'm still but keep my hips bent in the sitting position until I've finished.
Maybe people's different point's of view on this subject are due to different interpretations of sitting and standing. I'll try to illustrate this with SFW pictures:

I can't possible understand how anyone could reach and wipe while in this position

This is kind of what I mean by standing, except I don't put my arms on my knees. I call this standing because I'm fully raised off the toilet seat and fully supporting my weight with my legs, yet I still bend at my waist so I'm not stood up straight. Some people would probably consider this squatting.![]()
This is the literal definition of standing, but I doubt anyone wipes in this position. Perhaps this is what some "sitters" think of when they express disbelief on hearing that some people stand to wipe?
Could it be that a large number of people do it similar to the position in the second picture, but some people consider that sitting and some people consider that standing?
btw any one else find it strange to wad? to me it seems like a good way to get shit on your hand which is why im a stern believer in folding
