I always start my shower by sitting down and letting the water soak in for a while and I'm curious if many other people do. A quick Google search revealed that some people consider it as some sort of grievous misconduct or something that only people who are on drugs or depressed do. I couldn't find a proper poll though and I want to see some numbers.

So Escapist, do you sit/squat in the shower? Why or why not? If no, have you ever tried it?

No, I don't. The water in my shower usually isn't very hot, and cools considerably in the time between leaving the shower head and hitting the ground. This means that if I squatted down colder water would hit me than if I was standing up.

Also, idk, picturing it just looks kind of...weird.

Why would someone squat/sit in a shower often?

I have sat down in a shower once or twice, in my more depressed moments. I really didn't find it a pleasant experience but I was already past the point of caring.

But showers are meant to be stood up in, if you want to sit, there's bathtubs for that!

When I was a kid and got sick I would just sit in the shower and let the hot water relax me.

Parents got annoyed at me taking 30-45 minute showers, lol.

I think it's considered the other way around, in my situation... The shower, itself, sits (or "squats") on the floor, spraying my legs to remind me that the shower head needs to be put back on its holder... only to then remind me that the holder, itself, still needs to be fixed...

(I also don't think my shower's going through some depression... or that it's drowning in the water that fills up the bathtub...)

The water's cold by then if I sit!
After a long walk or run I sometimes want to, I was considering getting some kind of camping stool that I could use in there :p

Only if I need to take a shit.

Nah, it's quite uncomfortable. Plus lately I've been living in University accommodation with showers so small they can just about fit me in when I'm standing so I'm not even going to attempt sitting/squatting in one!

You sick freak! We don't tolerate your kind round here.

Nah...well I did once because I really tried and lack the thought capacity to realize I should just have bath instead. I don't take long in the shower and it's easy and less awkward to just stand up. If I want to soak I have a bath.
I don't really see why not though or how it's tied to depression and drugs. Maybe people have just been watching too many movies with the depressed or traumatized shower scene.

Never, there simply isn't room in my home shower to sit down comfortably . I guess I could squat if I really wanted to but it wouldn't be comfortable either, so no I haven't.

I lay in the shower.

I fall asleep!! in the shower.

I usually just love relaxing in the shower (though I may be guilty of doing it more while depressed).

I also waste a lot of water..

I have sat down in the shower before. Usually if I'm feeling depressed or lonely.

I always feel guilty about wasting water though, so I try and limit my shower times.

Depend on the shower. I mean if the shower head is on a bathtub then I sit down, otherwise I would stand up if it's a shower only (no tub to take a bath).

I hunch over slightly more than i usually am,

Never sit down, since i live in a dorm with sort of public showers, so i don't really want to catch a fungus or whatever... And besides, i see no reason to sit or even squat there, what's the point?

I used to have to sit in the shower as we couldn't have a screen or curtain, so sitting meant not spraying water all over the bathroom. Now I've moved house and we've got a lovely shower head with tons of pressure, good hot water and a screen, so I'm enjoying the ability to stand.

Nah.

In the Winter I will spend a good 10 minutes in the shower though, of which I spend about 3-4 minutes cleaning myself, and about 6 minutes spent emotionally preparing myself for turning off the nice, hot water.
