A simple question with many answers. Alright, two answers with many variations. Shut the hell up. Do you guys out there in Internetland still buy physical mediums? Do you guys buy albums, dvds(blue-ray), or actual game discs? Is the disc really dead?

I prefer a hard-copy, but, if I can't find that, I'll usually buy a file.

DVDs - Most definitely. In fact, I've only recently really started building a collection.
Games - Again, yes. I like having a physical copy.
Albums - Not really. Only if I see them for cheap do I buy a physical copy. I don't use CDs much, so I'd rather just have a digital copy.

I tend to buy Playstation games, for instance. Also, I recently bought a collection of all the Penumbra games on disc, so I suppose I buy "physical" copies of PC games as well. As for albums and movies, I haven't really made myself familiar with non-physical mediums, so I do that there too.

Am I an oldie?

Yes, I need the satisfaction of a hard copy in my hand, it's the only way I feel that a game/movie is actually mine.

In terms of movies or games, I like the hard copy the best.

For music, I usually buy from iTunes unless it's unavailable there or has a cool enough looking cover-art.

Very rarely do I get stuff non-hard copy. The only case has been a couple games on Steam that I hadn't heard of and didn't know if they sold a hard copy of it, but did it for the Steam deal.

Other than that, everything hard copy. I am very materialistic. Especially with books, you won't see me with something like a kindle until all paper media dies(which won't happen) and my library of books I have burns in a fire.

I do by some small games off of the 360 marketplace, but I'm always worried something might happen and I will lose the data and I won't be able to restore it unless I buy it again.

But yeah, I am a hard copy person if the choice is given.

I always go for the hard copy, if I have the option. I actually have more music on vinyl than I do on CD, and potentially more than I do on my hard drive, come to think of it. I don't like paying for downloads, and the only company to get me to do it so far has been Valve -- I hate Steamworks, but I can't argue with the ridiculous sales that come out over steam. Still, the only games that I intend to buy through Steam are games that use Steamworks, are on a good sale, and that I want to get regardless of the sale. So far, that means I've payed for TF2, L4D, and L4D2. If the Halflife bundle ever goes on sale, I'll probably grab the whole series, but that's pretty much the only valve game left that I'm interested in and don't have. Portal 2 will probably be added to the list as well, once it gets released.

Yeah, for some things. Usually if it's something that I've really been looking forward to, like an upcoming album by a band, I'll buy the CD.

It has been scientifically proven that digital distribution is evil, and is only used by evil people.

I like having a physical copy of things. That's why I keep all my CDs even though I've ripped them onto my computer. I could probably just sell them secondhand on eBay if I really wanted to. But then I can't, because most of the CDs I own are samples/promos and I'm not supposed to sell them. I buy most of my games in an actual store, and I still buy books and albums and all that.

I'm really paranoid about my itunes library, I constantly imagine that it'll be wiped one day. As a result, I typically buy albums as actual CDs. DVD's too!

I still buy CDs. Hell, I still buy vinyls. I will continue to buy CDs until there is absolutely no other way to get music I want.

If you wanted to be fully legal about it, you'd have to delete the songs from your computer too if you sold the CD.

On topic: I like owning physical copies of things. CDs, movies, games, books, manga, anime - if it's available in physical form, I'll get it. Digital copies are fine and all, but they can't quite compare to the awesome feeling of holding the physical product in my hands. Not to mention that Steam jack us around with their pricing. I'd rather pay an extra $10-20 to get a game with the manual, case and physical disc then save a small amount of money and just get a download.

Also, digital collectors editions can burn in hell. A small in-game bonus is nothing compared to the awesome stuff you can get with some special editions that get made.

With games I usually buy the disc. Music, sometimes, if it's something I really like. Movies, rarely.

For books, on the other hand, I always want a hard copy. I wouldn't want to read a book on a screen. It's just not right.

Yes.

As I said in the other Poll about this:

As long as game makers swap their $s for ?s without even looking at the exchange rate, I will buy the bulk of my games offline.

The times I bother wit online versions is when I can get it earlier (Cataclysm, Divinity 2)

If not I walk by several game store on my way home from work.

As for movies:
Always, there is a thing about having the movies in a shelf, that digital copiens can NEVER give me.
