Poll: Do You Still Own Your Original Console/s?

I have my PS1, my Gamecube, my PS3 Slim and a N64 which were all original and I've had since i first got each of them. Still play all of them too since they all work great. I never owned any of the other consoles in my life time (except a used Atari 7200 when i was real little but i don't have that anymore) cause i couldn't afford more then one console per generation and still can't... not that i see any reason to have more then one per generation, no need to be greedy.

I've got my Sega Megadrive (about 3 of them actually), I don't know where my Atari went, I've also still got my GameCube, N64 and Xbox360. Oh, and an original GameBoy, GameBoy Advanced and GameBoy Advanced SP.

The GameCube still has the best controller design of any console.

I still own my fat PS3, and that thing is a trooper.

I would say the consoles that I grew up with, i.e. every single Nintendo console except for the Wii and later, but I suffered from this thing called an older brother who got rid of each console when the newest one comes out. I'm in the middle of getting the old consoles back, and I've bought a NES and SNES so far. The games I've gotten for them are rather small at this point.

However, I do own all the Nintendo handhelds that have come out since the first one.

My original console was an NES, and yes I still have it along with a sega genesis (although to be fair I picked that one up at a flea market 10 years ago), PS2, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 - I never owned any of the mid/late-90s consoles at all. Going back even further, I'm fairly certain that my mother still has the family's old Atari 2600.

Retron 3 three in one gaming console(to lighten the wear on my NES and SNES, and so I could play some Genesis games).

I had a Gamecube, but I gave it to a friend since my Wii plays Gamecube games, plus I played that Gamecube so much, it has got rather finicky about playing certain games, so I my friend will deal with that now.

Yet, because I've gamed primarily on PC for most of my life I'm chastised as an "elitist PC gamer" by other console fans.

Seriously guys? I game on the thing that brings me my preferred games. I usually don't give a damn what it is.

It really all the wars stuff comes down to is what people purchased what system and they defend it no matter what if it is the only one they can afford.

I grew up with both consoles and PCs, but I really wouldn't say I'm either kind of gamer, I'm just a gamer.

What I have is what I could afford and lately, it is two consoles from the generation and a PC that will play graphic-light games.

But as I said, I'm just a gamer. I see game; I play game, well unless it is something I'm not interested it, though I'm interested in most games in a majority of the genres.

Just because a console's old doesn't mean the games aren't worthwhile anymore. I don't think I'll be getting rid of any of my old consoles for a very very long time.

You are not alone, and that is obvious by the other choice being the majority percentage.

Your comment also made me take notice at the lack of Nintendo in the choices, which is another reason the other is so high up.

From what I've seen of the consoles and discussions in the forums, many people tend to have two consoles each generation, and almost 100% of the time the first one is a Nintendo console and the other is Microsoft or Sony.

It actually kind of hits me in the feels that Nintendo isn't in the poll choice list, considering they still make damn fine consoles and games.

I still own my first console, which was an XBox 360. However, my first gaming device was the original Game Boy. I haven't played it in years, but it's within arms reach inside my closet. I can see it, actually, every time I pull out some clothes to wear for the day.

Sega Genesis, N64, Gamecube, Wii, PS2, Xbox 360 are all still intact. The only one that needed to be replaced was the PS3 (which is sad, as the original was one of the backwards compatible ones).

I still own my original monolith PS3. My first Xbox 360 was a slim model. I still have it, but that is less impressive. I have my first PSP as well. Hell, I even have my first Sega nomad in a box somewhere. I think that's pretty hardcore.

Well...I have to admit...it was a hand me down from a family friend.

It was the first console I'd ever played, shortly before my family purchased an NES. So it held, and still holds, a special sentiment for me. That sentiment is the primary reason I've kept it for so long.

That, and it's like a functional monument to the by-gone early days of home gaming.

(And yes, it's the Pong box from the 70's. Complete with faux-wood top and RF connectors.)

I still have my hand-me-down Dreamcast (which apparently was only about a year old around that time) from when I was in grade school... and the first console that I ever bought, which was the GameCube (even though I bought it about 3 years before the Wii came out...)*


The Dreamcast came from my mom's boyfriend's son, who only had three games with it (Super Runabout, Crazy Taxi, and Ready 2 Rumble Boxing) and no VMU... I almost sold it, but I decided to keep it after finding out about the console's history... (No DVD function? Well, "that sucks"... LOL) That, and I never get tired of playing SR or CT, even without a VMU...

The GameCube was mainly bought in one-dollar bills that I obtained after demonstrating one of the prizes students could reach for if they sold enough candy and/or other miscellaneous items from a huge catalog... (One of the few good highlights from middle school...) It also came with Smash Bros. Melee, which I spent more hours on that game than any other fighting game I have ever played...

I would count my PS2s and PS3, however the PS2 were either sold to me through a friend or... well... I bought them used at my local Gamestop... and my first PS3 ended up crashing and I ended up buying a new one... Good thing the guy at Gamestop still gave me the discount for handing them the broken PS3 in exchanged for the new PS3... (Also, because I don't consider them my original consoles, overall...)
