Title says it all. Do you still go out, buy, and use Strategy guides? Personally, I only use them only in something like an RPG or L.A Noire.

Not anymore, but there were some game guides that I relied heavily upon. Some of them don't seem (now) like they really needed it, but eh, I was younger then. The ones that come to mind are Kingdom Hearts (first one), Fallout 3, and some Yu-Gi-Oh Capsule-something* game.

I actually think it's more interesting to have an actual physical guide to flip through than looking it up online, though. Somehow feels less like cheating.

* was actually really fun.

Not anymore . Since current gen games are so easy a guide isn't ever needed . Everythin is so oversimplified and develippers hold our hands so much that a strategy guide isn't ever needed . HELL a game manual isn't needed. When was the last time you played a game that has a decent manual let alone a proper strategy guide. Of course i am over exagerating a tad bit , if you want 100% completion a guide is helpfull if not necessary as it once was .

I got talked into buying a strategy guide for New Vegas and really did try to use it but after the first few missions found myself going to the online wiki more and more until the strategy guide eventually became a doorstop.

I used to use strategy guides a lot back in the day. Now that I can just use the internet to find walkthroughs I don't really use them much anymore.

Although I did buy the guide for Skyward Sword. Mainly because the TV where the Wii is set up is away from where my laptop usually is and I find it more convenient to just flip through the book whenever I get stuck rather than getting up to get the laptop, wait for it to load up, then search the internet for a guide, and then finally scrolling down to the section referring to the part I'm stuck on. (Yes I know I'm lazy.)

That and it's a Zelda game. I'm not the smartest person in the world so I'm more than likely going to get stuck on at least one or two parts.

I still use the same ones I used back in the day and haven't bought any new ones in over a decade. There are various reasons, well two. I'm to cheap to pay for them when the internet works just as well and most games don't need them anymore. I wish I had one for Star Ocean 3 though, that's the kind of game that would benefit from a good guide.
